The decor of the lobby is a bit haphazard and otherwise non-descript. Once you exit the lobby, the view of the crater is astonishingly beautiful. Unlike previous reviewers, I thought the service at both the front desk and at meals was attentive and friendly. I did, however, find the parade of individuals who present themselves to help with luggage a... More

We stayed at the Sopa in Ngorongoro crater the last night of our 7 day safari. After coming here from a series of tented lodges I had expected it to feel more luxurious - however it was very much the opposite. The location is unbeatable but the staff is not attentive or particularly friendly and since it's a big lodge... More

a very good experience here. location is excellent right on the rim and with direct road into crater (important for maximum use of safari time). food was god, service very friendly (this made up for the comparatively large size of this lodge). dining halls are a bit cavernous as per size of lodge and if youhave one of the removed... The Ngorongoro Crater is a must see in Tanzania, we were not greatly impressed after our visit to Masai Mara (maybe it was the wrong time of the year to visit). We preferred the lush green settings of the Mara :) After the unavailability of a our first and second choice hotels on the crater we ended up choosing the... More

Having stayed at most of the hotels on the Crater rim, I was a bit apprehensive when the only available bookings I got over easter time was Sopa Ngorongoro. My worries were from the few reviews that I had read on Trip Advisor; however it was a pleasant surprise from the beginning to the end. The rooms were spacious and... More

The first hotel we had stayed at lake Manyara left me with high hopes about the standards at Sopa lodge but i was utterly disappointed at the end of my stay, even though i only stayed a night. To be fair to the hotel, it was strategically placed and it had a stunning view which overlooked the crater, but after... More

I was concerned about altitude of this lodge but would wanted to experince to see from highest point one can see the crater. No regret to stay at Sopa and no experience of any dizziness. Someone commented about breathing problem, avoid coffee and alchol. However I did not have any issue whatever and I enjoyed all, coffee, tea and wine... More

We arrived at Sopa Lodge just as the sun was setting. We had spent a long day on Safari and as with all Sopa lodges, they met us at the door ready to take our bags, hand us welcome drinks and walk us to our room. The rooms are a bit outdated, but comfortable with a view of the crater.... More

A fantastic location, great facilities and wonderful staff define this excellent lodge. This is one of several lodges we stayed at during our African Safari (organized by Sky View of Africa) and although they were all good, the location of this one, on the rim overlooking the crater, made it a bucket list memory for me. Amazing stuff. Loved it.

Probably one of my favorite spots on our Tanzanian safari was the Crater. The views from this lodge are tremendous. You can literally watch the sun set on the crater. The food was so-so, but the room was nice (could be a bit more modern, though). I believe it was the only property that my mom and I each had... More
