We had our nuptials at on Mafia Island during August 2011 and were totally enchanted with Ras Mbisi's hospitality and cuisine. Our family and guests (16 in total) have very fond memories. All needs were met (beyond and above the call of duty). Highly recommended to one an all! We will be back! Alipet

We had been saving for this holiday for a year - mine and my boyfriends first big holiday together, and his first for 5 years, so it needed to be something pretty special. Neither of us are beach holiday/resort people, and were looking for the perfect paradise to get away from other people quite frankly! Ras Mbisi was exactly what... More

If you want mini bars, room service and satellite TV, Ras Mbisi is NOT going to be the place for you. However, if you want barefoot, chilled out heaven in the middle of nowhere for the ultimate chill out, this is your spot. Mafia Island is possibly the most unspoilt in this archipelago. South of Zanzibar and a short flight... More

We stayed for two nights in Ras Mbisi Lodge last january. It was recommended by a friend of us who said it was somewhat different but a fantastic place to stay. The place indeed is wonderful. The comfortable cottages are just a few steps away from the beach. The food is great and surroundings are beautiful. When we arrived the... More

We chose this resort as we wanted rest and relaxation after a full on safari in Kenya. We got what we wanted. The weather was a little unkind which meant we could not go out on the boat, but we managed dips in the gloriously warm sea and lazed about in total comfort. The staff of the ras Mbisi were... More

That's what my boyfriend said to me after I was left in charge with the beach portion of our vacation to Tanzania. We absolutely loved Ras Mbisi and I simply don't have enough of a vocabulary to speak highly enough of it without using the world 'amazing' in ever sentence but I'll try to convey how much we loved our... Almost not much to add to previous comments: excellent food (do not come here for a diet), very professional and friendly staff, friendly owners making sure that evrything OK, very nice bungalows, very nice etc. Sure, a secluded place, but soooo relaxing. We had 2 days of tropical storm, stuck in the restaurant. We missed the whale sharks (but not... More

A great place on the west side for the whale sharks. This place is a great chillax place if you want amazing food of v high standard with great staff and a pool. Location wise I would maybe also stay on the other side (we did Chole island and the tree houses to be close to the coral gardens, this... More

Thank you for the very flattering comments on our food and accommodation, we are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Just a quick clarification, the nearest mangroves to Ras Mbisi are over an hours walk from the lodge, I was wondering if maybe you mixed us and Chole Island up slightly given that Chole is a mangrove island? Sandflies... More

Our family had a wonderful relaxing and peaceful stay at Ras Mbisi, the bandas were comfortable, the food healthy and delicious, and the well trained staff very attentive without being pushy. We had an enjoyable day on the boat but missed the whale sharks but may be next time! Big thanks to John and Michelle and also Scarlett who our... More

Ras Mbisi - a very special place with fantastic crafted bandas 50m from the illustrious green Indian Ocean. It's been a few months since our stay and we on a daily basis dream of the absolute peace there. Thank you John and Michelle for a blissful few days.
