My Sister and I stayed at the Arekuna Lodge in early November and I can't praise the place highly enough. It's beautifully located high on the banks of the Caroni River giving you fantastic panoramic views, I find it hard to understand why so few Brits want to visit. The only way in to this secluded and isolated place is by plane. Cessna or 12 seaters bring pre booked groups to this heaven. The rooms are built of stone with natural roofs. At first sight they are open in the roof area but cleverly sealed with mosquito netting. Creating a feeling of being in the open without the nuisance... More

Stayed here for one night on Lost World tour. excellent flight in (if a bit bumpy) on landing and good views of Angel Falls en route. Parrots at dawn in trees around camp and saw Little Chacalaca, Cara Cara etc. At night nightjars came within touching distance as they took insects attracted to torch light. My daughter, two grandchildren and I spent three days at the Arekuna Lodge. We flew in a 12 seater plane and landed on a tiny runway (amazing).
