This is a family-run hotel, but I'm not sure just how well the different members of the family communicate with each other. If you need something done, such as fixing the plumbing, you need to be sure to speak to the correct family member. On the positive side, the grounds are lovely with sidewalks passing between beautiful flowers and bushes.... More

Our group of 5 couples stayed at the Otai Hotel for three nights. We were welcomed in the afternoon with a cool drink and shown to our room which was near the pool. The grounds are beautiful. Our room was large and clean though basic. One couple did have ants in their room but were finally moved to another room.... More

The introduction to this hotel was dismal. We arrived on a wet & rainy night. A group of 40 looking forward to our Easter Island experience. Instead we appeared to arrive unexpectedly - how I don't know as the flights are hardly often. Anyway, there were no lights, no assistance with bags, no umbrellas, no welcome drink, nothing. There was... More

A simple room (even the superior variety!) set in beautiful grounds but part of the unspoilt culture of the Island. You will love it, sat out at night watching the sun go down followed by the myriads of stars in the southern hemisphere. I have given it 3 stars because the room is basic and we had a couple of... The hotel is located a,short walk from the center of the main town, yet is set in lovely gardens. Like everything else on this remote island, there are limits to the reliability of the electricity & the internet connection. The "free" breakfast is worth the price and the hotel, which caters to tour groups should have grab bars in the... More

We have just returned from our stay at Otai Hotel. We loved the grounds and our room was spacious. The staff was friendly. Our air conditioner worked great and we had a little fridge in our room to keep extra food we had brought along from Santiago because we had been warned of the price of restaurants and food in... Most of the hotels on the islands are moderate. This one too. Like a middle of the road Motel 6. Rooms were good size, the A/C worked (when the electricity was on) poor lighting in the room. Bath could have done with a good bleaching and the water temperature fluctuated in the shower. Staff is untrained but helpful. You had... More

Bad service, reception staff with attitude problems, no hot water, power problems, A/C only works if the owner decides to turn on the power. The list with reasons for not staying there can be long. Bad breakfast with very limited menu. One pinapple even if you slice it in thin slices is not enough for 40 people. Only positive is... More

Once you get over the lovely grounds reality sets in. The food is absolutely bad. Same boring buffet every morning for breakfast. And not very tasty either. Even the coffee is weak. The staff is friendly but not real helpful. Forget about getting repairs done. The rooms are small and rather spartan. If your lucky you will get a room... More

The hotel is hidden in Hanga Roa, having no sign identifying it and accessed by a narrow lane that introduces you to lovely plantings on well groomed grounds. The rooms range from those with air conditioning that works and windows that have screens to air conditioning that does not work and windows that do not have screens. Some of the... More
