We stayed in the cabin for 5 nights in March 2013. The cabin was awesome, cheaper than the inside rooms for some reason, but has a full bath and small kitchen, and a view of the top of Cerro FitzRoy. The staff at Kaulem were fantastic, very friendly and helpful with questions. We loved sitting in the common room in... More

I second what trvlr888 said and will only focus on additional info. First, I have to give a big shout out to Nuria. It was so helpful that she's fluent in English, and she provided excellent service. She genuinely cared that you had a great experience in El Chalten. Since we were really pressed for time on our trip, I... More

Kaulem was our favorite of the six places we stayed in during our time in Patagonia; we spent three nights here. It's a small B&B with only four rooms in the main building and a cottage next door. The large communal room in the main building is lovely - lots of comfortable seating, high ceilings, great views of Fitz Roy... More

This was my favorite hotel, out of four, in a recent 2-week trip around Patagonia. Pros: Close to the main drag, but quiet. Also close to trailheads. Delicious breakfast. Eggs cooked to order, freshly baked breads every day, huge assortment of fruit, and strong coffee. Excellent. Comfy beds, very comfortable. Views of Fitz Roy from your bedroom. Best shower head... We spent 3 nights here recently and enjoyed the hospitality of the staff. Upon our arrival we were given great tips on local hikes, with information on where to eat and what to do. The breakfast served each morning was quite hearty and included freshly baked goods and eggs to order. While the room was small, it was clean with... More

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night before our 4-day trek in the National Glacier Park. We loved this place. Making a reservation online was a cinch and was a little cheaper if you pay in cash. The hosts arranged for a van to pick us up at the airport, which was a smooth ride, as well as... More

Considering El Chalten is going through growing pains...the Hosteria rises to the occasion. Intermittent loss of electricity and water throughout the community lends to the feeling you truly are in Patagonia! The locals take it in stride and so we did as well. Breakfasts are nice; with hot egg dishes daily. We also opened our windows at night...and yes the... More

We liked the Hosteria. The owner and the women who ran the Hosteria were very nice. The room we had was facing Mt. Fitzoy. We left the windows open at night and found it to be very noisy outside. There were dogs barking all night long and you can hear a lot of things but I used ear plugs and... More

Our stay for 2 nights in the cabin was perfect! Kaulem is right by the beginning of the trail to Laguna Torres, which was nice since we arrived late in the day and were still able to get a full hike in. All of the staff was super friendly by helping plan hikes based on the weather conditions. Matilda made... More
