Great Hotel, with wonderful location, breakfasts are delicious and dinner was excellent three of the four nights,
We called into this hotel after it was recommended to us. What wonderful surroundings, situated by the the River Usk and set in beautiful gardens. It was a joy to be in such a lovely peaceful place. We unfortunately were too early for the praised high tea so had a light lunch outside on the terrace overlooking the river, what...

What's not to like about this place if you're looking for peace and quiet, a beautiful setting, some very good cooking and an increasingly relaxed and settled proprietor who runs a hotel where the staff seem happy. As well as all the above the hotel is run in a way that integrates it into local community and economy and 'gives...

‘Unpretentious excellence’ is what comes to mind in relation to this hotel – and it’s typified by the provision at dinner of a carafe of home-sourced spring water (unrequested, and supplemented by an excellent wine-list), and by a basket of variously sized wellington boots, ready to be borrowed by anyone who needs them; no fuss, but thoughtful and practical.

This was our second stay at this wonderfully evocative hotel. It was also a favourite watering hole of my late father-in-law. Time has stood still here, but in a good way. Have you ever ever wondered how P.G. Wodehouse's heros lived? Gliffaes embodies that era! The log fires, the bar, the amazing stone patio and the gentle helpful training of...

We stayed here for 2 nights in April 2012. Could not fault the place. Loved the ambience. Staff were spot on. Favourite moments was taking a 2nd breakfast cafetiere of coffee onto the terrace, soaking up the morning sun, drinking in the view over the river and listening to the pheasants calling.
Food was good. I agree with another reviewer...

The hotel was fantastic in all respects from the beautiful location to the relaxed and calm atmosphere of the staff and ambience inside the hotel. The location was the biggest selling point for us and that did not disappoint. There are acres of grounds to walk in and great walks beside the River Usk.
The staff were all very helpful...

We were blessed with two days of glorious sunshine for our stay at Gliffaes but the welcome would have been warm, whatever the weather. We had a huge room, (6) with its own little balcony looking over the River Usk. We joined residents and locals enjoying afternoon tea on the terrace- a lovely spread of sandwiches and home-made cakes and...

We stayed at this delightful hotel last Sept. It is a heaven of charm and tranquility, with delightful staff and wonderful food in breathtaking surroundings. Will differently be returning soonest.
My wife and I took a long weekend at Gliffaes in March. The hotel is in a beautiful location in the Usk valley just west of Crickhowell with the Beacons close by - very convenient for walking, mountain biking, fishing. The rooms are very comfortable with good quality beds, bedlinen and toiletries. Most rooms will have nice views out over...
