As someone else has said, the Rodel is obviously a labour of love for Donny and Dena; and having stayed twice, I now feel a tiny part of it, to the extent that I feel I have to go back next year to see how they are getting on! I would endorse everyone else's comments - the situation of the... More

As others have remarked, the exterior of the building is slightly austere - but this is how it was built, several centuries ago, and inside, is a very different story. We stayed for three nights in Iona's Room - top floor, so especially good views over the tiny harbour and the coastline. A huge room, with two single beds linked... More

The Rodel Hotel is charming and comfortable, warm and welcoming. It has a long and colourful history, and we were so impressed with what the current owners have achieved, truly a labour of love, in bringing it up to its current high standard of accommodation. We stayed in Iona's Room - a large room with local Harris tweed bedcovers and... More

We ate here 3 years ago and fell in love with the beautiful harbour and surrounding scenery. Returned this year for 2 nights. The accommodation and food is to a very high standard and staff extremely helpful. The Iona room had wonderful views over the harbour. We will definitely be back again. More

Stopped for dinner here with some friends last Saturday Night and was very pleasantly surprised by both the food and service. The Grey exterior to the building belied a warm atmosphere and friendly and efficient service. Local crab was very fresh but slightly too chilled and could have done with a more bouffant salad. Sirloin steak was nearly 2 inches... More

The island of Harris feels very deserted and secluded and then you drive into the tiny harbor of Rodel and you really feel like you've reached the edge of the World, so if it's peace you've come for, you're at the right place. It's true the building itself doesn't look much, and when you enter, although fresh and clean the... More

The Rodel Hotel is an old family run establishment situated on a peaceful inlet at the southern end of Harris. The roads to the hotel are a little dicey, so I suggest you take the west coast road. The hotel is quaint and quirky, but its major attraction is the sheer isolation and tranquillity of the hotel and surrounds. The... More

We had a few days here as a part of an Islands tour earlier this year. The photos I had seen had been a wee bit uninspiring, but what a false impression that was. If the Rodel had been more accessable it would, rightly, have been booked for years ahead. The staff were first class and the owners a real... More

This is a lovely place, fantastic location, lovely people & great food. Well worth the visit. We stayed in Jessies room which was lovely and although it doesn't have a great view it does have a four poster bed! Both dinner & breakfast were excellent. More
