We stayed at Scarista House for two nights in the Dot room, lovely view from our room, crisp bedlinen and quaint furniture. The Bathroom was small and in need of redecoration - peeling wallpaper and aged carpet - no shower just a head over the bath option was disappointing for the £190 a night. Dinner the first night was excellent... more

We have stayed at Scarista House for the past 10 years and love it. Where do I start. The rooms are individual, with well chosen furniture, comfortable beds and lots of great books. This is a TV free zone and with the huge library and drawing room there is a chance to really escape. The food is always excellent. I have... more

This is a difficult review - I have always wanted to stay at Scarista House since the days when camping was the default option.. and I'm glad we did because my wifeand I enjoyed our stay immensely. Positives - the room (Dot) was at the front of the house and had a fabulous view over the beach and the sea... more

This former manse stands in a stunning ocation overlooking the beach. It has been extremely tastefully restored and decorated. The bedroom was simply but elegantly furnished with the best view from a bathroom we have ever had! The owners and staff were welcoming without being over familiar and the food in the restaurant was outstanding. If there was a criticsm,... more

Our previous stay had been disappointing - as a very special treat I had booked dinner and room for one night only flying from Gatwick and back the following day. My correspondence with the hotel had been promising and I had booked a room in the main house. On arrival however I found we had been moved to one of... more

We stayed four days last summer and found it to be mind-boggling over-priced for what you get: small rather noisy rooms and a generally snobbish attitude from the owner. The location is beautiful, but if you don't want to spend yet another fortune on dinner (which was fine, quality-wise, we ate at the inn one night), your dining options are... more

I have stayed at Scarista House a number of times during the last 6 years and I have just booked it once again for April 2009. Whilst reviewing a variety of websites I was horrified to read some negative reports. I wanted to provide this review so that other travellers thinking about choosing Scarista House would do so without any... more

A really fantastic place to stay, very expensive but great if you can afford it...the bathroom was falling apart as a result of poor building work, but they are trying to get this fixed and we were shown the room before we had to accept. The owners are really friendly and food exceptional but may be a bit much for... more

A fantastic setting with great views over a wide horizon, and easy access to the beach. We had a great welcome and could not have made things easier. A relaxed feel to the place made it much more like a country-house rather than a hotel. They were more than happy to provide a meal for the baby - unasked -... more
