Stayed in a number of B&B's and guesthouses whilst touring Scotland and this was the best. Beautiful location, very large room and wonderful breakfast. Even a decanter of sherry in the room. More

We stayed at the Sheiling in August for one night:: we ere pleased to find a place in Ullappol not requiring a minimum stay of two nights in high season! The B&B is just outside the beautiful Ullapool and the city center can be reached with a 10 minutes walk. We received a warm welcome from the owner (sorry, I... More

We stayed here for 1 night before getting the ferry to Stornaway the next morning. It is in a very convenient position, a few minutes drive to the ferry terminal, and about a 10 minute walk into town for restaurants, shops, etc. As others have said the accommodation is very clean and comfortable, though a little dated. The owner was... More

We reached the the Sheiling after a long drive across the far north and north-west of Scotland. We immediately felt welcome and continued to feel so. We are surprised by some reviewers' adverse comments about the proprietors' manner. We found them amiable and communicative. Especially as we were only stopping one night, our room was adequate in size, well-stocked in... More

Recently had a quick trip to Ullapool for our Wedding Anniversary. The Sheiling was a lovely clean guest house right on the banks of Loch Broom. Nice warm welcome and information given from the landlady. Good Breakfasts. What really made it good for me was the beautiful views of the Loch. Absolutely gorgeous. Only a 10 minute walk into Ullapool.... More

Ideal location and good b&b but the owners do little to make you feel welcome. We paid in advance and felt that because our money was already in that we were just an inconvenience. There was no effort to be friendly and when the sprung door closed too loudly this morning the woman came out of the kitchen and rudely... More

This is a very good guest house on the southern outskirts of Ullapool which is convenient for the ferry terminal and walking into town for evening meal. Efficient check in by the owner and we were shown to a lovely room on the upper floor. Our room was clean and comfortably furnished although the bathroom was not that large but... More

This is the second time I've stayed at The Shieling and feel it's a very high quality B&B/guesthouse. The location alongside Loch Broom is stunning and the breakfasts are huge and use the highest quality ingredients (especially the black pudding!). The room was lovely and we enjoyed the complimentary sherry. Some of the comments in the other reviews regarding the... More

Our room at The Sheiling B&B was warm, clean and comfortable if somewhat outdated with outstanding views. There are plenty of towels and shower gel was provided. Breakfast was generous; I had smoked haddock and a poached egg and my husband had porridge followed by smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The fish is locally sourced from the Ullapool Smokery which... Spent a couple of nights here with teenage son; very spacious room, useful residents lounge with good range of local books and information. Breakfasts were good, great smoked haddock. Owners very friendly. Only minor gripe - creaking floors if you are in a ground floor room and have guests returning late above you. More
