We had occasion to stay in Newton Stewart for one night in October as we were en route to visit the nearby book town of Wigtown. We opted for a double room, which was decorated in a pseudo Tudor style. There was a kettle for tea and coffee, but we had to get the cups changed as they were dirty.... More

decent single room with ensuite, friendly staff, good pub food. Note the restuarant turns into a night club on saturdays and they do not do rooms then. Parking on site. A few other bars in the town. Perfect for the 7 Stanes biking

we had a lovely meal there one mid-week evening. Sadly not many other diners there but the staff were very friendly and the chips were fantastic.
