Some 60 years ago my late father remarried after the death of my mother and he and my step-mother spent their honeymoon in Ednam House. This proved a memorable experience and although they never went back, they often spoke of the hotel with affection. For many years I had intended to stay but never found an opportunity until my own... More

We attended a wedding at Ednam House Hotel recently. It is the most perfect venue for a wedding party. The situation overlooking the beautiful river Tweed is a sight to behold. The staff were truly amazing. The management made it all go with such ease. They could not do enough for us. The food and service were brilliant and all... More

On a beautiful sunny afternoon, my wife and I chose to eat at the Ednam House Hotel in Kelso. We were offered a table in their extensive grounds overlooking the river and sitting there in the sunshine watching the world go past was wonderful. We had a lovely light lunch and a cold drink. Staff were very friendly and we... More

As a busy businessman, I've stayed in hundreds of hotels across the globe. From Norway to New Zealand and Morocco to Mumbai- I've seen it all. However, I have to say that Ednam House Hotel tops the lot. It may not be one of the most technologically advanced or most luxurious hotels in the world, but I truly fell in... More

After having dinner here when we were staying somewhere else we decided to stay a night on the trip back home. The hotel has a real 'country house' country sports feel to it, despite being in the centre of Kelso. It has a superb position on the Junction Pool on the River Tweed. The staff were uniformly polite and friendly,... More

We had a short break here recently and loved it so much we extended our stay so that we could further experience the ambience and character of the place. I think you have to have a certain taste to enjoy this establishment. As a business traveller it was not for me with limited facilities ie. no internet in room, limited coverage in the public areas. The bar was not staffed all the time and the evening menu was very traditional and expensive. Overlooking the legendary 'Junction Pool' of the rivers Teviot and Tweed, this hotel is a throw back to a bye gone age. Formerly the grand mansion of some wealthy individual in the heart of the Border town of Kelso, Ednam House has been run as a hotel for salmon fishers by the same family for generations. It is bit frayed... More

Great location and lovely hotel and staff. Very attentive and willing to please the weary traveler, whether on business trip or holidaying. Quieter December - March (when the fishing season has ended - on the banks of the Tweed).
