A last-minute booking found us in "Hugh" which was fine, but next time (and there will be one!) we'll go for a two night spa break and have one of the spa suites which were all booked when we went, but looked super,as did the spa. Food absolutely excellent at dinner. Foie gras divine.I agree about the underlit dining room;... More

We dined here one evening recently and found one of the important features of fine dining missing. Fine dining should look beautiful as well as taste good but the room was so dark it was impossible to see what you were eating. We like subdued lighting but this was ridiculous. We asked for the lighting to be turned up and... More

there is a slightly fawltyesque air to Ockenden Manor particularly evident in the older part of the hotel. Dont let it put you off as the Spa facilities, spa bedrooms and the restaurant are first rate. massage of a good standard, spa brand new and well set up, and clearly popular with the local ladies of leisure , got us... No room numbers here... but room names! We were inside Hugh. Hugh was a big chap, he had floral curtains, a rickety wardrobe and a four poster bed. He must have been an Edwardian as we also had a roll top bath. But maybe not, the walk-in shower, my favourite feature, was very modern indeed. Cuckfield Manor could have been... More

We stayed here at the end of June last year. We had heard good things about the food so were keen to visit but had a disappointing experience with booking accommodation here. We phoned up to book a standard room after looking on the Internet and seeing there were suite, deluxe, superior and standard rooms available. However, when speaking to... More

Lovely combination of beautiful old hotel with loads of character and history, combined with an extremely stylish modern Spa complex. Spa suites are wonderful, loads of space and beautifully decorated with a very generous bathroom. The room opens out to a great roof terrace with plenty of area for relaxing and drinking. The Spa itself is great, lovely heated in-outdoor... More

A relaxing and luxurious one night stay at this lovely hotel. The spa facilities are excellent and I can particularly recommend the Reflexology session (thank you Chloe). The Spa bedrooms are extremely well-appointed with access to a quiet roof terrace to enjoy the sunshine and the countryside views. If you love cheese, the cheese trolley in the restaurant just has... A one night treat at this pleasant if unexceptional hotel in mid - Sussex. A good (not very good) dinner in the restaurant the night before. Over-priced food but a wine list with some bargains. Sleeping well, I was awoken at 5.45am by a fire alarm siren in my room. On it goes. I evacuate. Strong smell of burning toast... More

Thank you for your review. When the fire alarms go off during the night we automatically evacuate the hotel and this happened on this occasion. We can’t allow the guests to re-enter the hotel until the Fire Services have checked out the reason for the activation. On this occasion it was a false alarm. I thought reception and myself had... Stayed here for w/e start of Fen 2013. The main hotel is quaint has a very small bar area with a small lounge and dining area. Dinning servers for both Breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately we were unable to taste their evening meals due to my illness. We received a room in the Spa area of the hotel over looking fields.... More

Stayed 3 nights just after Easter, on a DB&B basis in a deluxe room (upgraded by the hotel on booking). The rate I got was slightly (10%) better than published rates, but still not cheap. I would not have minded if it had lived up to the billing! First room had no shower. Second room had a shower, but was... More

Thank you for your review, I am disappointed that you did not like the Elizabeth room which has just been refurbished along with the Victoria Room which has also been completed although both of these do not have showers as they do not fit within the confines of the Tudor building. In regard to the water stain in the room... More
