Stayed here on 26th May 2013 with my family for the night. Looks lovely from the outside and the pub area on groundfloor is alright with friendly locals and nice selection of food and ales. The room (rm 3) was the large room with 4 single beds, the towels and bedding were clean and the beds were comfortable enough. However,... More

My husband and I were travelling from south west Cumbria to Butlins at Skegness on our motorbikes to attend the Motorcycle News Live show. We decided to add an extra day to our trip to cut down on the travelling time;as it's not too warm yet and we've become fairweather bikers in our old age! As neither of us have... More

Stayed here for one night whist walking part of the Cleveland Way. Rooms are basic and tired but this is made up for by the friendliness of the staff. They provide a slip with the following information on it :- Front Door and Your Room Access Codes, Wi Fi Code, Landline and Mobile number for the Landlord. Can recommend the... More

We came here for our Honeymoon weekend, my husband has been coming here for years with his family. Yes the appearance is tired but the welcome you get is fantastic, the staff are lovely and friendly. We had breakfast and evening meals here, the food was delicious. The bedroom was newly decorated, we had an en-suite bathroom which was new,... More

I've never stayed overnight in the inn but my family stay in Staithes and spend many an evening here, within the bar area. When we have been children have been welcomed, the owner and staff are wonderful. We have been here when people have performed such as the Fisherman's choir. It is so homey and lovely. I always feel very... More

We loved it and would go again. Loads of hot water and a comfy bed. Great breakfast. Owners/staff friendly, live music too. What more could you ask for. A real down to earth place to relax. Its ideal for visiting Whitby, Robinhoods Bay, Runswick Bay, etc. Staithes is a unique little place well worth a visit.

The Captain Cook doesn't look much from the outside, but step inside for a good traditional pub serving good freshly made food and great ales. We visited during the beer festival and my partner delighted in the choice of 40 beers, whilst we both delighted in the proper hand made chips. Food was tasty, well-prepared and very reasonably priced. Staff... More

We booked last minute and knew from reviews that it was basic, as was reflected in the £56 charge, however we were bitterly disappointed when we arrived and saw the state of the bedroom,it is the worst i have ever seen let alone stayed in.On arrival the room was freezing cold and we were informed that the portable heater in... Not much to shout about on the decor, and we didn't try the food, but the real ale was top notch. On our second visit they had a beer festival and every beer we tasted was spot on. Very friendly service also. I think that the present owners haven't had the place long and some renovation work was in progress.
