Until this weekend (May 2012) I would have happily given the Port Gaverne Hotel 5 stars. Not that I have stayed here, but have camped 200 metres up the lane and have been to the hotel for breakfast and for other meals. Port Gaverne is a beautiful place and the hotel fits in very well... However.. This weekend I visited... More

A case of mistaken identity! Having got to the bottom of this review it appears that both you and our barman have the same name. Our barman assumed the drunk local was talking to him and not you. Our apologies to you for the way it was handled. Also thankyou for pointing out the difference in the bar food menu.... More

Whilst we didn't stay at the hotel, we visited the Port Gavrerne Hotel a few times during our holiday in Cornwall to have lunch. The beer battered fish and chips were just out of this world. Worth a trip to the Hotel to sit at one of the outside tables, have a pint of Doom Bar and savour the fish... More

You were very lucky to of been able to sit outside and eat your fish and chips! Today has been the wettest day for a long time! if anyone is interested we use Doom Bar, soda water and plain flour for our batter. Thank you for the honest review. More

This is our favourite local pub. The setting is perfect - a few yards from an idylic cove. The staff are welcoming, the beer is great. The bar food is good, and we love the Sunday lunches in the restaurant. Our only regret is that we have a cottage nearbye so cannot stay at the hotel!

Port Gaverne Hotel is a charming traditional pub/hotel in a beautiful part of the country in its own cove. We stayed for four nights over the Easter period and had a lovely quiet room away from the bar area that was very comfortable and the breakfasts were great too. We ate in the restaurant twice for dinner and on both... More

Port Gaverne is tiny, and this is the only pub/hotel in the cove. But not to worry, it is great - friendly locals, open fire place, real ales & happy dogs. I stayed two nights in a comfortable, clean & spacious room with an amazingly comfortable bed. The cooked breakfast was also good & well presented. Port Isaac is only... More

Just wanted to let people know that were looking at these reviews on this hotel that they also have self catering cottages a stones throw away. Myself and my husband always stay in these cottages as we take our dog and find the whole experience just excellent. We always pop over to the hotel for a drink and meal and... More

Thank you for the great review, good to hear from our regular visitors. The cottages can get very busy over the summer months so it is good to book early. They are called the Green Door Cottages, and you can book them through the hotel. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. More

A group of us have just returned from a trip having stayed for three nights at this hotel. What a lovely place. Simple, comfortable rooms and friendly, helpful staff. The owners could not do enough for us, seeking out lobsters for eight on the second night at very short notice. The food is excellent and although the chef made a... More

Ive been visiting this little Hotel for years now and always enjoy the fresh food and the friendliness of the staff. The only drawback for visitors is that it does get extremely busy and the parking is sometimes a problem. The bar itself is cosy and well managed and there is a lovely outside seating area. There is a beach... More

The Port Gaverne hotel is in private ownership as evidenced by the warm friendly welcome on the phone and then on arrival.Don't expect a big glitzy operation but be charmed by the little cove the hotel sits in and the sounf of the sea , the bedrooms are not enormous but well fitted out with nice beds , decent pictures... We are still looking for the gold! but I hate to say it but I think someone else got there first. Port Gaverne is (in my humble opinion) quite unique in its location and quirkiness - some days there are more dogs in the bar than people. We offer good, old fashioned service to all and I hope that you... More
