Where to start?....can't believe the positive reviews on this hotel. Driving up to the hotel it looks amazing but don't be fooled by outward appearances. We were greeted by an old gentleman who we assumed was the owner, Mr Dunn and taken to our room by a member of staff who opened the door on another room which wasn't ours... More

Mr and Mrs Dunn never fail to provide us with a beatiful setting for a short break in their lovely home. The choice of rooms is always exciting - every one is different and we have now tried six of the eight - but nothing can prepare you fully for the evenings spent in the Drawing room or Library selecting... We found this hotel , in fact something between hotel and B&B, by 'chance" , because it had two red houses in Michelin guide. The staff is very friendly, the room we had was wonderful (make your choice for the four poster in main building !) and the place stuffed with antiques. It belongs to the Dunn family for centuries. It... More

We enjoied so much our 2 nights stay in this old beautiful house. Hospitality was very generous, breakfast is unforgettable.. in a very beautiful woody dinning room. The old rooms around the house - are all so elegantly and warmly decorated. D'ont forget to walk in the big garden... Highly recommened.

This review mainly is about the restaurant of the hotel that is only open to hotel guests. Th hotel is a very beautiful rustique traditional English mansion in a gorgeous environment. In the restaurant the lady of house (the owner) is the 'master chef'. I don't know if the title of masterchef is a certified one, but in any case... More

It's been more than a year since a review has been posted on Stone House. We saw it in a travel book, love unique bed and breakfasts, and gave it a try as our first of five stops in our first trip to England. It's a great first stop. Rural, yes. In fact, as we navigated our struggling GPS that... More

Be warned - there are no tea/coffee-making facilities in rooms and they charge rip-off prices to deliver it to your room...£3.25 per person for a pot of tea containing just enough for two cups. No hot water to top it up, no biscuits or anything else to eat. That completely took the shine off the stay for us and we... More

Thank you for your comments. We have taken your points up with our staff as our aim is to provide our guests with the highest quality of service and feel upset that this has fallen short. Actually we do have tea and coffee making facilities in all our rooms and a box of home made shortbread biscuits that is put... More

What a pleasant surprise. My wife and I arrived at Stone House last month without very high expectations. We loved it. Situated off a charming rural green and behind a peaceful pond sits a delightful home (and it does feel like a home) that began as a Tudor home in 1495, which has subsequently and very tastefully incorporated a Georgia... High comfort, attention to detail, very welcoming and helpful staff. We stayed in the 2 bedroomed cottage which had its own private garden and not in the main house. Very peaceful and relaxing. The grand house itself is steeped in history being in the Dunn family since the 1400`s,the grounds including a large walled garden and lake are spectacular. The... More

We discovered Stone House earlier this year. We initially booked in simply because they would accept our dotty (!!) Dalmation. What a discovery. An amazing place. Calm, relaxing, nothing too much trouble for the staff. Just like staying in a privately owned country house. The rooms (we stayed in the Pink four poster second time around) are lovely. The food...
