We stopped overnight on the way to Scotland. The hotel kindly made up a family room for four with our dog. The decor of the room was modern and settled into the period features that had been retained. The bar was traditional and relaxed with good ales and good service. Ordered platters for 3 of us but they consisted of so little food that none of us were satisfied. Not enough cheese, bread or butter, everything tasted ordinary with nothing to lift the palate, certainly too little of everything..
