Villa 4 - Casa Dona Elena was a large villa with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with a terrace to the rear and a short walk from the pool. The beds and furniture were comfortable. The grounds are very well maintained with lovely views out to the sea. The Finca is ideally situated, a short drive from both Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava, with easy access to the motorway.

There are some nice houses on this Finca, and some not so nice. The descriptions on some websites can be misleading, check what you are getting before booking. I booked the property based on the following description …”Casa Jardín at Finca El Drago: This house measuring 65 m2 has great privacy, as it is in the middle of the South Garden. ” and a picture showing the described detached property. We value privacy and the associated quietness highly on our holidays. I followed up with the owner directly after to ensure that we had been booked in the Casa Jardín. She advised that we had been booked into the other one bedroom property (in the middle of the main house) because the Casa Jardín was booked for three nights of our seven night stay but we could switch after three nights. I proceeded with the booking knowing I could cancel if I found a detached property. A day later the owner contacted us to advise that she had made arrangements and we could stay at the Casa Jardin for the full seven nights after all. I stopped looking for alternatives. I also confirmed the flights and hire car. The day before we were due to travel I received bad news from the owner. The Casa Jardín was not now available, workers putting in a new floor were running behind schedule, so we had to stay in the other one bedroom house. Needless to say I was not happy but the flights and hire car were booked and paid for. You can decide for yourself on the unfortunate timing of such news. The day after our arrival a family of eight with four small children arrived and were staying in the main apartment which was to our left and above our rooms. To keep this short I will simply describe the new guests as very noisy from early morning to late at night. I requested a move to any of the other free apartments the next morning. It took three nights and a lot of hard work before we were finally moved, I found the customer service poor especially when, at one point, it was suggested that we could leave any time we wanted if could find somewhere better. We will not be returning. PS I never saw a single worker at the Casa Jardín during our entire stay.

This review is not about the location or the property but about the booking practice of the owner. I booked this property from a listing on owners direct. Many property owners on this site specify a lead time for confirmation but this owner specified instant response and payment. On the strength of a conformed booking I booked flights. Within 4 hours the owner had cancelled my confirmed booking saying the property had already been booked that morning. She gave me a refund and offered me an alternative at a totally different location and then not covering the first day. From searching for this property on other sites, it appears this owner takes booking from her own web site from this web site and also from Owners direct.

Response from Philipp C, Manager at Villa Finca el Drago
Responded 18 Sept 2018
Believe it or not, as the property owner we were not aware of such practices. We will discuss with one of our booking agent who seems to have listed on Owners direct and make sure she fixes the situation. Thank you for our feedback! In the future, please Book with is directly via our website and coordinate with us. We never ask for any money up front and you can pay by cash or credit during your stay.

This place is idyllic with so much charm and character and sense of privacy. We stayed for 2 weeks in the Garden Villa which is light and very spacious with its own patio screened from the lawned pool area by large bushes of hibiscus and bougainvillea. The grounds are fantastic with palms, avocado trees, beautiful flowers, lovely traditional architecture, a pretty chapel, glimpses of the sea and Mount Teide and a free tennis court. The heated pool is beautifully tiled and surrounded by lawn with plenty of loungers and tables. We occasionally saw some other guests but often it felt like we had the place to ourselves. It's location close to the TF-5 and TF-21 main roads is ideal for exploring the island. There is very little within easy walking distance so you need to drive to the beach, restaurants and shops. Lots of choice of restaurants in the historic town of La Orotova just 3 km away. This is a truly original and wonderful place to stay. It is incredible value too for the space and exclusive feel you get. Don't expect a luxury interior for this price but you everything is very pleasant and characterful. Such a memorable and unique place to stay. A world away from the crowded all inclusive hotels that all feel much the same. We absolutely loved our stay here.

A small oasis at the outskirts of La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife. Idyllic views and beautiful gardens, nice pool and tennis court. The place is peaceful and good when needing to relax ( only when loud children are there it can be annoying ). No meal service only cleaning is provided . Very clean, good service and help when required. Get yourselves an automatic gate opener! It is needed and a more modern look inside the houses. Otherwise a paradise

we stayed in one of the villas for 3 days and were very happy with the accommodation. the house was huge for 2 people, very clean, and the kichen was well equipped. The property is located in a wonderful garden, shared with a few other villas. It's all very quiet and conducive to relaxation. There are a swimming pool and a tennis court too, free for the guest to use and well maintained.

A stunning villa with fantastic grounds and facilities. A few rough edges but it is so beautiful you could forgive it anything. Staff are great and are more or less invisible in the background unless you need them for anything. Even with other guests staying you feel like you have the place to yourself. Perfect for families with kids as there is enough to keep them entertained and it feels totally safe and secure for them to run around the grounds. Quiet, secluded, safe and stunning.

Beautiful finca, super friendly and helpful staff. Location is a short drive to the beaches in Puerto, but wonderful La Orotava with many shops, cafés etc. is only a 15-minute walk uphill. The grounds are gorgeous and include a swimming pool and a tennis court and stunning ocean views.

This is the second time we celebrate christmas in Finca el Drago, and its a fantastic place, we enjoy the peace and quiet, big garden and the swimming pool. The staff are friendly and helpful and we had no problems what so ever during our 2 weeks in the big apartment. nr 5. when we mention that our waterboiler were broken we got a new the next day. we like this a lot as in the morning you open the window in the kitchen, and serve breakfast there so you can eat outside. On new year we were up in our own little tower and looked at the fireworks we will be back next christmas thats for sure

El Drago is a large building converted to a number of holiday "fincas". We stayed in drago 2 which is one bedroom. The bedroom and bathroom were huge, but the kitchen and living room were small and both poorly equipped. The seating in the long and thin living room was one small couch and a bed! For two people, it was uncomfortable. The kitchen had no oven and needed to be updated about 20 years ago. The gardens had an infestation of caterpillar type insects and each day we had to remove about 30 or so from the floors and walls. There was a tennis court which was in good condition.
