Mengibar was a perfect stopover, en route from our home in the south of Spain, to the Cazorla National Park. We picked this hotel because of the reviews and, on balance, believe we made a good choice. The hotel lives up to its description and has been well renovated. We were offered a good rate by Booking.com, paying £51 for... More

I stayed there only 1 night, late arrival, but staff were very helpful. The room as spacious, nice furniture, huge bathroom and spotless. The restaurant was one thing I really enjoyed. Very good cooking, nice wines and good price for money. I would recomend the place for both couples on a roimatic trip and families. Do not forget about the... More

I did not rent a car this trip, so I was unable to stay here. We took a taxi from the downtown area (about 12 euros) to visit the castillo which is right next to the hotel. Unfortunately, the castillo was closed. Luckily the hotel had a lovely cafe where we drank some delicious hot chocolate before their dining room... More

Discovered this hotel through Tripadvisor. Can't belive we had overlooked previously as we visit family in Bailen (15min drive) and have had enough of the poor hotel quality in the region. Would recomend booking direct by phone, excellent English spoken and the room rate was more favorable than the on-line booking agent used via the hotel's website. Booking direct we... More

We stayed 1 night during semana Santa. The hotel is a large, old family home that has been converted into a hotel. Our room was lovely with Moroccan influenced touches. The room had a nice patio with beautifully detailed wood shutters. The bed was very comfy and the room was pretty quiet. There was a (loud) local celebration going on... More

I stayed in the hotel for 3 night. The price is very reasonable. The restaurant serve very good food. The city is relatively small and does nor offer any real attraction. The main attraction in the hotel is that it located in an old palace, and all the decoration give you a real impression that you are in authentic old... More

This is a magnificent hotel converted from an ancient fortress/castle dating back to Roman times. It has all of the conveniences of a Parador without the same costs. Given its location in a small village the hotel is really the only place in town for having a decent meal; unfortunately, however, the restaurant is only open on weekends. The cafeteria... More

I went to this town for bicycling in Jaen which is nearby and was totally satisfied. Mengibar is not a really a tourist town, and what there is to see is right on the town square where the hotel is located. The property is extremely well managed, and the personnel are all very helpful. I recommend it highly.

i would probably not stay here again ,altough it was a 4 star hotel it seemed a bit tatty around the edges. the first thing was the door key cards were not working so a member of reception had to open the room door for you, at first this seemed quite nice but after the first day it became a... Following a 3 day stop at El Anadio (see forthcoming review), we needed a one night pit stop before arriving in Chite (south of Granada) for our one week casa rental. The Palacio had some good reviews and offered a package which included a room in the old part (read "good part") of the hotel, welcome basket (a bottle of... More
