We arrived in the Sandhouse after a day of surfing at the local beach. If the weather is good this could be one of the best hotels in Donegal. In saying that if the weather was good Donegal would be ruined by too many tourists like Kerry! A very impressive building set on an equally impressive site right by the ocean. At check in, receptionist advised we were being allocated a superior room and, no, she did not need an imprint of our credit card as the hotel trusted their guests. Thus far, happy days. Hi, Sorry to read that you did not enjoy your recent stay. We do trust our guests and therefore do not ask for a credit card on arrival. Yes the Sandhouse is a very old building, originally a fishing lodge in the 1930's. We have however spent a lot of money refurbishing the hotel over the years and every winter...
The Sand House Hotel in Rossnowlagh is a treasure on Donegal Bay. It's a great place to relax and hear the ocean by day and night. Just back from a few days at this lovely hotel. Great atmosphere for a relaxed family break. Staff were very friendly and helpful, food delicious and rooms really comfortable. Did not want to leave! Location is fantastic - never been quite so close to the sea. more
Lovely hotel, amazing views!!! Staff were all amazing and looked after us very well. The only thing that I could comment on is the price considering the current economic climate it is a bit pricey. more
This hotel is unfortunately very much stuck in the past and needs considerable undating + rearranging.Its best feature is mostly hidden you eat looking at the car park rather than the wonderfull atlantic view you should see !! more
Thank you for your comments on the Sandhouse. I don't know when you stayed with us but in early June we took onboard tripadvisor comments and moved our Restaurant upstairs overlooking Rossnowlagh beach. The web cam is updated every 15 minutes and if not I hear about it as surfers from all over the Northwest use it to check the...
Just returned from a break with my parents and cannot say how good this hotel is. Elegant is a word that describes it best. The staff are great and every need is dealt with. Compared to next hotel we stayed at this should be 5 star and not the same rating. Will definitely come back more

I stayed at the Sandhouse Hotel recently and I really enjoyed it. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. When we arrived we were shown to our room. Rooms nice and modern although bathrooms small and no room to place toothbrush etc. View from rooms excellent, Shame that the restaurant is on the wrong side of the hotel facing the car park and not the beautiful seaview.
