We returned after about six months to the Chateau de la Roque. At 70 km from Cherbourg it makes a handy stopover place. The place was deserted and we had difficulty getting anybody to answer the door. At dinner there were five of us in total. What an experience - we were rushed through four courses in less than an... We found the chateau to be very comfortable and relaxing especially after a long day seeing the sights of lower Normandy. Sitting out in the evenings watching the comings and goings of bats and owls was thoroughly enjoyableThe room was comfortable although we found it a little strange to have the bath and toilet in the bedroom! I would strongly... More

We arrived here late in the day and without a reservation after our nearby chateau turned out to be so unclean that we couldn't stay. Mme Delisle could not have been nicer in accommodating us and apologizing that we needed to change rooms for our second night. The rooms are a little dated - "shabby French chic" but they are... We loved the personality of this chateau ... each room was uniquely decorated, the grounds were lovely, the spa with whirlpool, steam room, etc. was a welcom surprise, our dinner was comforting and well prepared, and we loved learning about the history of the Tour de France.

At the entrance to the driveway is a white bicycle which is a little message about the owner of the chateau. In 1976 Raymond Delisle became champion of France and his study contains loads of photographs and a multitude of medals and cups which he won on the professional cycling circuit. The Chateau dates back hundreds of years and has... More

I spent one night in this castle with my two young kids and we all loved it. Very nice garden and great breakfast with local products.

I arrived at the reception of the chateau and Mister Delisle gave me my key, then he accompanied me in my room. The room: The decoration completely excéptionnel, because the style was very well to the century of this castle. The meal: The meal it is unwound in a big room, deserving of a room of meal, with one decorations... More

My partner and I stayed here for two weeks on a nos recibe offer where accomodation was supposedly free and we each had to spend 89euro a night on food/ drink. We arrived and were impressed by the avenue leading up to it and the buiilding itself. We were met by the owner who was extremly unfriendly , showed us... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chateau de la Roque, but I can see why some non-french visitors might not appreciate it so much. The setting is glorious, and the rooms offer some great styles, although in what you might call "faded elegance", and certainly not all mod cons. I am half french, and found the style typically traditionally french,... More
