This isn't luxury, it's best to say this now. However getting luxury in Jaibalito is not easy... The place is very nice, with a beautiful garden, a nice restaurant, decent rooms and very near the lake. What makes the place special however is the owner, and the atmosphere. Spread along stairs up a cliffside overlooking volcanic Lake Atitlan, this small, friendly and moderately priced hotel has good food, spectacular views and great swimming and kayaking in the lake. regular motorboat buses connect with nearby villages for variety.

If you want to really experience Jaibalito and the local scene, this is the place. It is right in the middle of the village and has private rooms for $10 a night or dorm style for $4.50 If you are on a budget then it doesn't get any better than this.
