We visited El Calafate for the last summer. We selected this hotel based on recommendations on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The hotel had very confortable rooms. Done in antiques, nice appearance, some of the employees really went out of their way to help us. Water was unpotable (a filled sink had a brown color – which also made for a very unappetizing shower), and beds had little support (uncomfortable), and some employees didn’t seem to be concerned at all with customer service. more

Hosteria Meulen is a lovely hotel with old fashioned hardwood furniture, newly installed bathrooms, a shuttle service (running only 2x per day) into town and multi-tasking employees where 1 or 2 people did everything from check-in, baggage handling, driving the shuttle, serving breakfast, cleaning plates, and making personal wake-up calls. Wow, it sounds like some grumpy reviewers have stayed here recently. I found this little hotel to be quite charming, thanks in a large part to the very friendly and helpful staff. Yes, it's a walk to town, but a lovely walk. (And it's closer to 10 minutes than 20 if you take a shortcut recommended by the hotel staff.)... more
