Stayed at the Koi Aiken at the beginning of April and we were the only guests! The hotel was due to close for the winter the following week as the "season" was coming to an end. However, a warm welcome in two ways! Firstly the friendly receptionist who offered us a glass of Calafate liqueur in white wine when we... More

Koi Aiken isn't much to look at and it's quite a long walk from downtown Calafate, but it's actually a really nice place to stay for a night or two. To welcome us, we were given a sort of kir royal but made with bubbly and Calafate liqueur (local berries that give the town its name). Great start, and from... More

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in December, 2011. Its ranking is really dubious. I would liken it to a B & B. The rooms are small and the furnishing jaded. The only redeeming points were the view and the friendly front office staff, There was an awkward incident when we dined at the hotel’s restaurant one night... More

This is a bit out of town, but is walkable along the paseo de la costanera and takes approx. 45 mins. We had a lovely lake view from our room, but the room itself was tiny and it was a bit tired. The lock on our room was a bit dodgy and we would often spend minutes in trying to... More

El Calafate is a busy place, even in the month of October. We did not get our first choice hotel and this one was offered to us instead for four nights. It is out of town in an area seemingly under continuing development. Surprisingly, for its out-of-town sitting the rooms were on the small side, giving only just about adequate... More

This hotel is need in need of some refurbishment. Our bath was badly chipped but so were other rooms we looked at. The furniture and fittings in rooms and public areas is getting towards its sell by date. The beds are very comfortable and you do get a great view from some rooms and even better if you find your... This hotel is quite a walk from the centre of El Calafate for restaurants etc and is not recommended for that reason alone - especially if the high winds are against you. However, taxis are easy to get. Sadly the hotel looked as though it needed some TLC. Staff friendly. Breakfast buffet fine.

Koi Aiken is a mile or so out of town so not best situated. Having said that you have a nice view over the lake and the chance of observing some of the local fauna. The room was fairly basic but comfortable although I didn’t spend much time in it. El Calafate itself is unremarkable but it’s the gateway to... More

The hosteria is more like a boutique hotel, they dont have many rooms so their attention is very personalised, staff VERY helpful and friendly people. The food is excellent and the prices quite cheap. Rooms are very clean, beds very comfortable and assorted breakfast. Altough the hotel is not in city centre, but less than 5 mins by taxi, the... Koi Aiken is a very nice backpacker. the location is stunning, at the top of a hill where you get nice view of the lake (and if it is cold, do not worry, you can admire the lake from the big window in the living room) and far from the crowdy touristy main road. The stuff are very friendly, they... More
