We arrived at De Opstal on a blistering hot day (40C) and when the electricity had been off all day - not the best start. We were taken on a pretty long treck to our room, which was nice, then had to walk all the way back to reception to book in and collect our luggage then treck all the... More

We have spent 2 nights at De OPstal , during our honeymoon in 2007. The room was very big, with a huge fireplace built in in the middle of a wall. Great atmosphere, with wooden floor, fireplace, and lot of attention to every detail. We had a piano under the porch and a lovely view over the massive gardens. At... More

I am afraid this accomodation was not for us. The grounds and the rooms are littered with an eclectic mix of what you can find in a car-boot sale or junk yard. Gardens are wonderful, pity the same care has not gone into the rooms - a feeling that the place is now a bit tired and resting on its... More

The photos on the website of this lodge do not do it any justice. The gardens are immaculate and well designed and the room itself was breathtaking. We had the room called "love" and it was certainly romantic. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated. We rushed back from our tour of the Cango caves so that we could enjoy... More

We stayed here in October 2011 during a 3 week holiday in South Africa. This was our 3rd stop on a tour of the Garden Route and had we known how beautiful, tranquil and friendly this place was we would have booked to stay longer. The Wagon House was superb, the surroundings were breathtaking and what topped it all off... More

One of the greatest accomodation we had during our vacation in RSA. Owners and staff were overwhelming friendly. They definitely did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our room was charming, nicely furnished in a farmhouse style with an open fire place, located amidst wonderful large flower garden in full bloom. The breakfast buffet –... More

We drove from Cape Town to stay here and it was so nice to relax and unwind after spending several hours on the road. It's a lovely and homely resort, with such character and friendly staff. Marius was a really friendly guy who was always happy to help out with anything we needed. The room was clean, the food was... More

I have had the opportunity to stay there at least twice and was treated like royalty. A well looked after property and attention to detail is well taken care off. The owners personal touch makes the biggest difference and are very hands on. Nice garden to walk about, excellent swimming pool and very good dining area. The farm house touch... More

This is a lovely property, with beautiful gardens, clearly well looked after, and the owners' personal touches are evident both outside and inside the rooms. We stayed in Room 15 which was very spacious, comfortable and had a private patio area with tea/coffee facilities and a fridge. We ate in the restaurant both nights and thought the food was excellent.... More

This accomodation was amazing! So much care and attention has gone into every part of it and the love of the staff and owners is on show in everything! So many little details that made the stay so special. Not only was our cottage beautiful and very well equipped, the grounds were like a little piece of Paradise! The staff... More
