Foster's Manor can either be classified as a truly funky turn-of-the-century discovery or a creepy castle straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. I vote for the former, while my wife was firmly in the let's-leave-at dawn camp. Someone with a bursting wallet lovingly restored this 100 year old mansion, and probably doesn't care that few tourists find their way... More

A beautiful old manor, well kept and maintained, this place gives you you a wonderful english feel and touch of its own rich history. The rooms are huge, the bathroom has a cute bath-tub and 24x7 hot water supply. We had very filling english breakfast served early morning at 6.30am on our request. Warm hospitality and middle of the town... More

A visit to this absolutely stunning old manor house is a must. Was a bit concerned at first as location in the town is not the greatest, but once you walk through the front door and step into the past - the grand building the lovely antiques and most of all the incredibly friendly staff. Had an enormous room, comfortable... More

Ants in the beds. Don't try to have a shower unless you are a midget as the length of the cord is 2 foot long so you have to sit down for a shower only to find the water alternates between boiling hot & freezing cold ..... no middle ground. We had booked for 3 nights and stayed just one.... More

I only stayed there for one night. The whole place is huge and so are the rooms. It has soething special to it, since it used to be the palace of one of the ostrich barons, but somehow lacks atmosphere. I felt a bit lost in the rooms since they are so big, but lack adequate decoration. Also, the bathroom... More

Plus + This is one of the original "Feather Palaces" which were built during the Ostrich Feather Craze of the early 20th Century. With their new wealth the barons created lavish mansion like Foster's Manor + Historic Setting + Great hospitality + Run by local college as a training site for students, nice mission Minus - Do you like the... We booked a night at Fosters Manor through the tourist office in Outsdhoorn. We had stayed at 4* B&Bs/Guesthouses for the previous week along the garden route, which were outstanding value and quality, so we presumed a 3* would be fairly good too. We were wrong. This is not a 3* property, or else the grading system in South Africa... More

Whilst expecting an older property we were somewhat diappointed with Fosters Manor when compared to all the other places we stayed. Although having a 3 star rating I would say it's more 2 star. The building is imposing for sure and a fanastic old building filled with period furnishings which is good but we were the only people staying there... More

Impressive palace with a huge hall, an aristocratic wellcome and the bigest bedroom I have ever had (about 50 m2!!). The outside of the building is a little old but my room was totaly freshly decorate and the bathroom had a tub on a very beautiful yellow wood floor. A very strange stay in the middle of "klein karoo", an... More
