I am in the safari industry and stayed at Red Stone Hills for just one night with my business partner, a professional safari guide, on a too-short exploration of the Garden Route. One night is by far too short a time to do this area justice but it gave a great taster of what is on offer when I finally... More

Hi there I recently spent the weekend at the Bushmans Cottage at Red stone Hills what an experience it was majestic with the most beautiful view. My husband did a Mountain bike race there, and as usual all the hospitality and warmth in the world was in abundance. Here poeple dont lock doors and your neighbours are your family. The... More

The cottages are fantastically located below the red rocks of the area. It is quiet and serene with much bird life. We also saw some reedboks in the morning. The cottage was cosy and well equipped. Petro was helpful and keen to share her knowledge of the area.

The red stone cottage completed our road trip through the klein Karoo. If you want a break from reality this is the place to be. Petro gives you a warm friendly welcome and are very helpful. In the mornings you see the beautiful sunrise against the red rock. It is close to the beautiful Kruisrivier and the “rooiberg pass” on... More

We stayed here for three nights recently and it was a great experience. Semi self-catered with wholesome meals provided by Petro, comfortable accommodation and silence with stars at night. Wonderful walks with the fascinating red stone hills as accompaniment. Only few small niggles was somewhat hit and miss servicing of the cottage, and also note that all the cottages are... More

Beautiful surroundings with this most unusual geological phenomona dating back to over 1200 million years ago. Charming and comfortable self-catering accommodation but Petro is also most willing to cater for you with all your personal requirements. Great for any Nature lover, hiker, mountain-biker, birder, photographer and much more to inspire you.

If you want luxury and don't like being up close and personal with creeping crawling mother nature, don't go here. BUT if you want secluded rustic rural charm, beautiful surroundings, a huge sky full of stars and spectacular nature on your doorstep, you will love it! We stayed in birds nest cottage. Very cute, rustic and well equipped. Wonky doors... More

This self catering accommodation is in a remote SA location and therefore you can expect a few things that come with that. Slightly outdated decor which even though clean could do with a deep clean. However location is amazing and gives you the chance to get away from it all and really see another part of SA that not everyone... More

Wow, I am still impressed about this place. It was fantastic. We had no signal and no internet connection in this accommodation. But, actually, this was great bc so we enjoyed nature, went for a hike, where the picture was taken which shows the beauty of the red stone hills. The self-catering cottages are comfortable and romantic. I wished to... More

A perfect quiet retreat up a dirt road. This review sums it up: This was an absolute great breakaway. On a farm with peace and quiet all around.Lovely little house,we stayed in Aloe Cottage for two.Well equipped and the best -- you can almost touch the stars at night from your little stoep.Excellent value for money.
