Stayed at Karoo Soul for 5 night this Christmas. Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and lovely swimming pool, Staff were very helpful and friendly. Used the braai area twice, and spent hours chilling in the hammocks. Rooms were really clean, with everything you could need, and really stylish without being over-the-top. Stayed in the stone cottage, bit with small patio. Used the kitchen in the mainhouse though. Nice pool area with a bbq and good views over Oudtshorn. Can't recommend going to an ostrich farm, it is too commercialized. Instead drive up to Swartberg pass and back to town via Arthur's Pass. You will see plenty of ostriches along the road... More

Our visit to this lovely backpackers' old fashioned home was very special. We had great conversations with the owner, and artist of this lodge. The location is very practical and within walking reach of any stores you need and any restaurants you would like to visit. Oudtshoorn is a colorful place to visit and the Karoo region is amazing!

Oudtshoorn itself is nothing too special. A cute outpost on the former edge of civilization founded around 1843 that is aging gracefully.
