We spent the first three nights of our holiday on the smallest boat available (4-5 birth) on the Knysna lagoon. Frankly, 4 adults would be a bit of a squeeze, we were three adults so that was ok. The lagoon itself although seems quite big, there are lots of no go areas ie sand banks and oyster beds however as we just pottered around, dropping the anchor to eat, drink and fish, we didn't need to go too far. The boats are very well equipped and the staff very helpful. You have to return to base every morning to plug in the boat power wise but that's ok as the shower/toilet facilities on the boat are basic and the Lightleys base has a good ablution block where you can have a good hot shower and other things! Also whilst the boat is being repowered you can nip into nearby Knysna and stock up with very cheap food and drink. There is a Braii (BBQ) on board which we utilised each night.
