The lodge is ideal if you are looking for a good location and not to pricey a place to stay for a short while. Rooms are small but clean. Breakfast buffet / shop are canteen like though the food was alright. 2 minutes walk from the aquarium and waterfront area. Airport shuttle available on request and for a fee. more

It is in the ideal location . It is just a few minutes walk to the Water Front, with all its shops and restaurants. The service is great. The service is just as good. I really felt at home. more

A good value base. V.close to all the Waterfront attractions. The hotel is a converted jail - try to stay in B block - the corridors still look like a jail - its cool! The rooms are uni halls-of-residence style suites, with bedroom, sitting room, shower & toilet. Plenty of space to store bags & clothes. Also has tea/coffee making... more

We stayed at the hotel for 7 days B&B in June 2008. Although it's the closest hotel to the V&A without being in it it is not worth staying here. Even if you are happy to stay in what is basically a university with dorm room the price does not equal the standard you receive. We could have stayed in... more

Stayed in the Breakwater Lodge with a friend when were were on a trip to Cape Town in March 2009. The Hotel was cheap and it's in a great location very safe, 4 mins walk to the waterfront where there are loads of restaurant and markets for shopping and the red tour bus goes right across the road. The hotel... more

I stayed at the Protea Victoria Junction for 2-nights in April 09 but due to them not having availability for further 2-nights, I moved to the dreadful Breakwater Lodge. If you like beige and brown, this place is for you. It’s dull, drab, dreary and just not value for money. I was in what they refer to as a business... more

Great location for the V&A Waterfront, but this hotel is nothing like the description on the Protea Hotel website! This was the worst hotel we stayed in during our trip home to S.A. We had a deluxe room and this was still very basic, for example no air conditioning and we were there in the middle of Summer! The hotel... more

We went to South Africa for our honeymoon. Our travel agent was wonderful but somehow recommended the Breakwater Lodge. It was the worst hotel that we stayed at during our time in South Africa. My public school dorm room looked better than this place. The bathroom was really small and had horrible flourscent lighting. The breakfast was fine but not... more
