Sadly this is a tired hotel squeezing the last drops from a no doubt deserved former reputation. The decor does not 'transport you to Paris' it is shabby, dated and in places quite dangerous and dirty- heaven knows what the kitchens etc are like! What a wonderful hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff at the hotel during our stay. This is how a boutique hotel should be. The food and the rooms were magnificent as was the location. Can't wait to visit again. more

The hotel staff is its greatest strength... always helpful, nice and trying to make you feel welcome and comfortable. And, for European standards, quite good value for money. Le Vendome. Your view is of bird poop on rooftops, and you listen to the seagull cries. Everything felt fairly small. Breakfast was good, but not great. If you have a choice, stay at Cape Grace or Table Bay. more
