We stayed for two nights at De Waterkant in March 2012. The location was excellent, although a bit of a walk from the waterfront (but not too expensive in a taxi) if that's what you want. Our room was basic but comfortable and clean, and the communal areas were lovely. We didn't have an included breakfast so we ate around... More

Very overpriced for what it is, fairly central but parkingcan be a problem. Get a voucher to have breakfast at local cafe but when you go there they charge you on a differentprice list so cheaper to forget the voucher. Staff helpful if you can find themm the reception is at the other end of the street. Wouldn't stay here... More

Dear Guest Thank you for your comment. We do offer secure parking at the back of De Waterkant House, parking arrangements can be made prior or on arrival. When you purchase the breakfast voucher you can eat anything up to the value of R60 from either The Charles Café or Village Café. We also now have a friendly host for... More

Location was good, but the hotel was absolutely no good value for money. Rooms were poor, dirty, small, old and with fungus. You'll get vouchers for breakfast, but you have to pay extra to get a full breakfast. Really strange. Staff was unfriendly, lazy and chaotic. We would absolutely not recommend this place.

Dear reviewer We pride ourselves on the standards of product and service we provide, which makes it all the more disappointing that your experience was not as positive as that of others guests. Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and my assurance that the matter was taken up with senior management. More

Stayed in one of the basement rooms for 3 nights which was clean & comfortable but a bit shabby, especially the bathroom. Communual areas were much nicer and the house is in a good location. Service at the reception office was great but we didn't realise when booking that reception wasn't in the house- it's at 1 Loader Street and... More

I would struggle to know whether to recommend De Waterkant House or not. We had booked for a twin room and initially were given a lower ground, (small) double room which did not look like it had been redecorated in some time. For what we were paying this was very disappointing. However, having pointed out that we booked a twin,... More

Quaint guest house with an amazing atmosphere and aura. The house feels like home but with that something extra. The beds are large and comfortable and you awake to the smell of "tannie sarie's" rusks being baked or the smel of coffee brewing. Tannie Sarie is the heart of the guest house and her alone creates a home from home.... More

We stayed at the Waterkant House for 5 days. It is not for the staff at the reception you have to go. But there is a little secret about this specific place and this is Sarie, who is a pearl. Like a mama she is reading your wishes. We stayed at the Courtyard Room, very small, though it was quiet.... More
