I thought Protea Kruger Gate was fantastic. The rooms were lovely, the food was amazing, the staff were extremely friendly and polite and it is a very very short drive to the entrance of Kruger National Park. 5* service across the board. I would definitely return.

This hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade. The rooms are tired and whilst I do understand that they are being redone, I don't think the hotel should advertise itself as 4star currently. The common areas are decent enough but the rooms are old and the bathrooms even worse. They are the type you expect to find in a... More

The location of the hotel is perfect and the entrance, the terrace and dinner area are nice. Unfortunately the interior in the rooms is very old and looks a little shabby. Considering the price an update is absolutely necessary. Breakfast and dinner were good but nothing special if I compare it with other places in SA. The staff was always... More

This is a great lodge right next to Krugar Park. You can sit on the deck watching Hppos/Elephants in the river. Deer walk by and of course the naughty monkies. A nice swimming pool to relax in. The food is excellant. The rooms are basic and what yoou expect in a authentic lodge. From here you can do great safaris.

Very conveniently situated just right next the Paul Kruger Gate. Our rooms was very clean and quite spacious. The breakfast was realy good, and diner in the Lapa restaurant was also good. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The kids really loved the little monkeys in the garden.

We stayed here for my birthday weekend in early January. The staff were fabulous and attentive. The food was great as well as the pool. The highlight of my trip has to be having sundowners on the deck overlooking natures wonders and seeing the Golden sunset in the distance. A great add on is the tour services located on the... More

We stayed here over the Easter weekend in the chalets. Whilst the general areas are very nice, and the wooden deck is perfect for sundowners, the hotel feels distinctly tired and in need of a revamp. The room service food was completely disappointing, with offerings that were quite obviously pre-packaged and warmed up - not what you expect with the... More

This hotel's location is ecellent! We stayed there with our five year old and seven month old daughters. Was booked into this by our office based on its location next to the Park Gate. After a long drive everyone was very welcoming and remained so throughout the 2 days I spent there.
