Like the previous review we stayed during a very busy time as in excess of 60 British & Irish Lions supporters descended around lunch time. Check in was very efficient and luggage was moved into the rooms without incident. We were transported to our rooms by buggy carts. Some of the rooms do not have a great view, but the... more

We stayed for 3 nights during a very busy period (British Lions touring) and despite the hotel being full the service was excellent. The staff could not do enough for us and dinner was lovely - if a bit expensive. However the drinks are reasonably priced. Having breakfast outside overlooking the pool with the Indian Ocean in the distance is... more

Very overrated and not that good. The lodges themselves are finished in very dark style which with the dim lighting and high trees outside makes them seem very dark and oppressive inside with the dark floors, dark ceilings, dark furniture and dark everything. Even though the resort seems only about ten years old it would seem very much more dated... more

My husband and I spent a weekend at Zimbali Lodge In early April 2009 as part work and part leisure. It was an incentive package to introduce people to their private residence club, and was a two night stay, with breakfast, and airport transfers included. We landed on a Friday, and were picked up in a chauffeured vehicle to be... more

When you arrive at Zimbali, you think Wow! as it is surrounded by a fantastic golf course with wonderful views of the ocean. The first room that we were shown to (and this apply's to most of the rooms including the very expensive Forest Suits) had absolutely no view at all as it was surrounded by tall trees and dense... more

I stayed at the Forest Suites in December 2008. Room: The suite was not bad. It's a bit dark though. Not sure about cleanliness either. There is no view. If you were a Giraffe you might, however, be able to see a bit of the fairway of the golf course. The sea is miles away. In fairness, the bathroom is... more

I recently stayed at the Zimbali Lodge for just over 2 weeks. It's a beautiful secluded property with two gates you have to go through to get to it. It has a nearby town about 5 minutes away, but when you're on the property you feel like you're in your own world. Every building and path is surrounded by jungle... more

Zimbali Lodge is a spectacular place--truly paradise 50km up the North Coast from Durban. But it isn't reality. The Forest Suites rooms are huge and beautifully appointed--you could live very comfortably there. The indoor-outdoor shower is particularly cool. The grounds are spectacular. Beautiful golf course, beautiful lodge and pool area and awesome pool area down by the beach. The beach... more

We stayed at Zimbali for a night, mainly to see what "all the fuss was about" as it is widely talked about in SA. Sadly, in a nutshell this place was nothing special. But one incident really summed it up though: On arrival, there was a welcome letter inviting us for a complimentary drink before dinner. A lovely touch if... more

I have been to many top hotels and must highly recommend Zimbali Lodge. The attention to detail really impressed me, as a perfectionist. The location is spectacular, like living in your own rain forest. Arriving back at the room on the first night, a magical experience awaited us - candles, rose petals, champagne on ice, bubble bath ... amazing. For... more
