This looks like a lovely holiday hotel and I guess it would be OK if you were on holiday but unfortunately I was there on business and the hotel just couldn't cope with people who were on a schedule. The Sands has just undergone an upgrade to the rooms are the results are great. The rooms are spacious and equipped with a fridge and microwave. The view is excellent overlookiing the lovely Indian Ocean. Umhlanga is really serene and a great getaway. The beach is nice (not as good as Durban) but all in all a wonderful holiday. more

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday by the beach there is no better place in South Africa. I live in South Africa and have been all over, Cape Town, Durban, Knysna. It is really safe around Umhlanga and you can walk around at night, unlike most other places in South Africa. Its the hotel thats most in demand... more
