My girlfriend and I didn't know what we were letting ourselves in for when we arrived in Durban for the first time!

We called Smiths Cottage backpackers to see if they had a room available and the next thing we knew the lovely Pat had arrived at the airport to collect us.

I found it hard to see Smiths Cottage as a backpackers hostel as it would be classed as 5 star in europe.
Keith and Pat Smith are an English couple who will do anything to make your stay comfortable and are always ready to offer advice, organise trips or just run you down to the beach.
Keiths hobby of making barbecues means there is never a shortage of food on the go.
They have a pool, bar and accomodation to suit everyone not to mention very reasonable rates.

I love the place and can't wait to go back for my 3rd trip. more
