We were very pushed getting in anywhere in Durban the weekend we were there due to the Travel Expo so we booked into The Albany not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! Although the hotel is not over looking the beach it is superbly located in the heart of the city across from City Hall - this made... More

This 3 star hotel lives up to its grading, the room was clean and up to standard, the food value for money, but the service, friendliness and eager staff members was definately the most memorable part of our stay. The only down side was the location of the hotel which made me a little uncomfortable (at night) allthough the friendly... More

On the positive side: I got a good deal for my family booking with easyto book. The room was clean. On the negative side: The lifts were slow, but then again it is an old hotel. The breakfast was boring, you have to ask for bacon and eggs and the rest is cold by the time it arrives. I would... More

The rooms were clean but the carpets in the rooms were old and made the room stuffy. The lifts are to old and air conditioner is not working. However the service we got in the morning from the lady at the reception was really not on.A good customer service is the last thing on her mind.We were made to feel like they... This is not a good hotel to stay in. What you see on the website is clearly not what you will get. I was overwhelmed by the smells lurking in the hotel rooms and especially the corridors. The lifts are very old and the whole place looks like it needs some renovation. I constantly felt very unsafe the whole time... More

My husband and I had to go to Durban for professional reasons and were looking for a good but affordable accommodation. Albany Hotel is truly one of the cheapest hotels you can find in Durban. We paid 250 rand per person per night for a double room which includes a breakfast buffet. A few words of warning though... If you... More

Looks are very deceiving! The outside of the hotel looks run down, but once you enter the front door it changes. The hotel is very clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. The best part of the hotel are the rooms, very clean and comfortable. In room amenities is much more than you would expect from a 3 Star property. The... More

I stayed at The Albany for 4 nights and felt positively unsafe the whole time. I was told the hotel is walking distance to the ICC but what I was not told is that the area the hotel is in is unsavoury at best. There is no way it is safe to walk anywhere from this hotel. On the Friday... More

Stayed at the Albany while attending a conference at the ICC, the company I worked for at the time went for one of the cheaper options for accomodation. The Albany did the job just fine though, its pretty basic but considering all I really did was sleep and have breakfast there it was just fine. The room I was in... More

This hotel is located in a dangerous part of Durban. A taximan informed us after that it was known for drugs and prostitutes. When dark, everything nearby is closed. The management were not in anyway nice. It calls itself an "art-deco" hotel. No evidence of this. Rooms were basic. The doors had several locks. Loud neighbours. Fellow hotel guests included... More
