4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2012 NEW

I was attracted to the hotel by a press clipping advertising their new "pet friendly" policy - quite a rarity unfortunately in South Africa. So I packed up the dogs and went on a road trip. The hotel is new and funky - kind of industrial minimalist. I liked. The position is great, on the docks and in the heart... More

Stayed at Docklands for a business trip. It is under new management (Three Cities, which has beautiful small hotels) so many of the older reviews probably aren't relevant anymore. It is very stylish and the restaurant Wodka has delicious food, although the breakfasts are buffet style- reminiscent of conference food..You can get quite good room rates through Tripadvisor partners, like... I Stayed here for almost a week during COP 17. The hotel has Nice modern Rooms with lot of space. The staff is very Friendly and helpfull (both desk and cleaning). Don't be bothered by the locationbecause you will need taxi anyway. to go around the city The hotel is quite close to the beachfront, so jogging is possible. I... More

We chose the Docklands Hotel Durban because of the modern, industrial look and the location a bit away from the rundown citycenter the good rate deal and the parking facility. We stayed in a deluxe room on the 4th floor. The rooms are nice in size with a open shower, sink bathroom with a closed small toilette cabin. It's designed... More

Stayed here for three nights during COP 17 at 300/night usd. True value of similar hotel is 1/10 of the rate. Poor service. No towel or essentials replacement, sporadic if any, Internet, poor hotel location, no customer service. Would strongly recommend against staying here

1) Mosquitos in the lobby in a country that has a yellow fever problem. 2) Obviously do not check room before arrival of new guests. 3) Dicey location

Adding to the previous review where 3 rooms were booked: no effort was made by staff to make us comfortable. When we eventually got one room and put the children to sleep we had to sit around on the floor in the passage, not daring to leave in case one of the kids fell off the bed (no baby beds!)... More

We booked three rooms at the Docklands Hotel for one night and paid up front. We requested that two of the rooms have cots and that we can check in 2 hours early to get dressed for a wedding. Upon our arrival we were told that our booking was lost, they had no proof of payment and that our rooms... More

Was my first time at docklands, and didnt know what to expect. but it is unique, fresh and has a an amazing atmosphere. it not in such a bad location and isnt far from Ushaka. We booked his hotel as it was new and suppose to be part of the "new" Durban Waterfront. Well no actual Waterfront yet. The location is very dodgy and I will not walk around after dark. Room was much smaller than expected and only a small window. Staff was very slow and unattentive, also uncapable if you ask me. We... More
