We stayed here for the United Nations Climate Change conference and had a wonderful experience at the hostel. We were able to meet young people from all over the world attending the conference- so was great to be apart of that community, share experiences and learn about what was happening "behind the scenes". The location Florida Road was very convenient,... More

This place really wasn't so great. It'd be good for a backpacker looking for the party, for a very rough place to crash, and willing to be up all night - it's right next to Durban's bars and restaurants (but be warned that Durban's nightlife is pretty damn tame for a large city). I was just overnighting here before flying... More

Tekweni is a very cheap place to stay if you are on a low budget and want to go to Durban for a holiday. It is truly a home away from home where you can just be yourself and relax. You can bring along your laptop because the Wi-Fi connection is for free. Although Tekweni is popular among international tourists... More

Durban sucks, 4 days Durban 3,5 days rain. But Tekweni was really really nice and it didn't get boring. Awesome stuff and I loved both pools :-) (Even though I've missed the Baz Bus :-P ) Everyone enjoy their stay!!! More

AMAZING. That about sums it up. Super chill staff, super chill vibe. Staff will teach you Sudoku, get you deals on the Baz Bus, and thow parties every night. Stayed there for 2 weeks and loved every minute of it. More

It was fun to stay at Tekweni! Nice patio-area with a pool, big tables and bbq. Rooms and kitchen were clean. Don't stay there if you need a good sleep - it's definitely a party hostel with loud music every night. Plus, TV's running in front of the dorms. Big minus: Mattresses were really bad! Staff is very helpful. Safe... More

OK so it's 10 whole months since my visit, but with my saffa friends are still visiting Tekweni now for a beer to chill, or to party with the guests, it still is obviously the place to be. I visited alone as part of my 4 week holiday to South Africa, I stayed at Tekweni for 6 days, 2 at... More

I initially tried to avoid staying here as the words “party hostel” tend to strike fear into my heart, but lack of time and its great location won out. This and the great communal areas are Tekweni’s strengths. It has a lovely little pool and a pool table, lots of outside seating and even a nice porch at the front... More

While I don't mind staying in a party hostel every now and then, this place was too much. The 11p noise restriction wasn't even slightly honored, and there was loud music blasting and drunk people trying to get into our room well into the wee hours of the morning. Could've dealt with that, except that we were prevented from sleeping... More

The Good: if you want to head out to Florida Road (food, nightlife, some quirky shops), this is hands down the best location to explore from. The pool is actually a pool and not just a grimy plunge pool, if the weather is hot and that matters to you. Because of the reputation that seems to precede this place, it... More
