The rooms are sexy and unusual and superb for a romantic getaway. Really "way out" design with super bath and shower. The foods at Roots is superb and so is the setting. Service in Roots is unfortunately disappointing and hard to get a drink unless you select wine pairing.

The hotel and restuarant were built with romance in mind. The rooms have everything one could possible need; a huge spa bath, double shower, massive bed and large living area. You feel like you are in a cave. The dinner was very delicious. Roots has won many awards and now I know why. If you are looking for a romantic... More

This boutique hotel is a lovely luxury getaway. Very clean with helpful staff. No only are the rooms big with a pleasant modern african edge, but you get to shower in glass roofed shower to view the stars at night. I would highly recommend this hotel as a stop over or for a short getaway. Set in the cradle of... More

We stayed at the beautiful Forum Homini hotel for the second time. While the rooms were just as gorgeous as we remembered them and the food was fantastic, the waiter service in the restaurant was really appalling for a hotel of this calibre. The waiters grunted a response, never explained the dish as they set it/threw it down in front... More

My husband and I spent our wedding night at Forum Homini four years ago. We were blown away by the room (marketed as a 'luxury cave'), gobsmacked by the location and setting (deep within the Cradle of Humankind) and absolutely wowed by the degustation menu available at Roots, the hotel's signature restaurant and one of Joburg's top ten, according to... We stayed her as a family. The location is lovely and the rooms are well designed. I've yet to come to terms with a sitting area which has a bath in it but that is probaby my age! There are a few matters though which maybe a hotel of this kind should deal with. Our used hand towel was taken... More

This hotel and restaurant went out of their way to ensure that me proposing to my girlfriend was the most romantic evening in the world. They set up a separate room, with our own table. They ensured that we were well served, and the food was great. Everyone congratulated us afterwards. They ensured that the room was romantic with flowers.... More

My husband and I recently stayed at Forum Homini, the hotel on the same property as Roots restaurant. Forum Homini is a luxury hotel near the Cradle of Humankind sites, and a lovely oasis. We stayed in the honeymoon suite (only room available), and it was not an inexpensive stay, but price included a six-course (really nine-course) dinner and five-course... More
