I have stayed at the Michelangelo off and on for about 8 years or so. The hotels is well maintained and retains a charm. That said it will be due a major update in the next few years I suspect. Rooms are very well sized with lovely high ceilings. Service is very mixed. Check in was slow and somewhat confusion... more

We enjoyed staying at Michelangelo Hotel. Big room, big bathroom and very helpful people taking care of all our needs (we also found a greek man in the personell speaking our language!). We enjoyed an excellent breakfast and we loved the swimming pool area . We also found great restaurants at the plaza next to the hotel, Delicious food! more

Dear Nick: Thank you for your kind review regarding your stay with us! Archie Christodoulides, our Head Concierge, the greek gentleman that you spoke of, is very well liked by all of our guests, and after 44 years in the industry, his passion and dedication is still very evident, as you pointed. I have relayed your sentiments to him aswell....

During our recent vacation to South Africa we stayed ay this wonderful hotel for an overnight stay on two separate occassions. The rooms were large, bright and clean and most importantly ready to check-in after our overseas flight.. Large updated bathrooms with a wonderful walk-in shower and separate tub. The hotel staff was very efficient and friendly. Any requst was... more

The rooms are old but this hotel has the best location in Sandton. Its pricey and bit pretentious, but service is on par with other hotels in the area. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant though, there is too many great restaurants in the area! more

Good afternoon NanaG: Firstly, thank you for the constructive criticism, this allows us to consistantly improve on our service and facilities. On that note, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we are currently undergoing a refurbishment. The Michelangelo is described as one of the foremost luxury hotels in the Sandton area of Johannesburg. It enjoys a good location off Nelson Mandela Square with good and easy access to all the shopping malls, bars and restaurants and appears most suited to the business/professional traveller, rather than those looking for family accommodation or a more personal level of... more

Staff requires more training, Service is BAD, Property is OKAY, needs urgent re-furbishment, The internet vouchers need to be collected from the lobby desk without which you can't connect, Food is OKAY.. Just a AVERAGE HOTEL.. Surely not the worth the price we paid...... more

We had some reservations about staying at the Michelangelo based on Trip Advisor reviews. We ended up staying here because it was the only major hotel in Johannesburg which would guarantee us two interconnecting rooms for our family. The hotel has a great location for the first time visitor. It is part of large shopping and entertainment complex in the... more

Besides its excellent location, this hotel does very little to justify its price. Service was very poor and not helpful. Rooms seem old and not specially big. Asked for a late check-out which was denied and instead offered to SELL me a tour of Jo'burg. Definitely won't be staying again. more
