To call this place a hotel is an insult to hotels. I have travelled extensively throughout Southern/Eastern Africa and I would rate this place as a hostel at the most. I arrived to find that my booking had been cancelled due to my credit card being rejected six weeks ago – they didn’t bother to tell me and my card... More

The place just let us outside, with the bags on the sidewalk and did not opened the doors. We had to find another hotel in the middle of the night This was a very scary suttuation, because the area is very far and seems very dangerous with slums and industrial installations around. We sent a message to the place, around... More

All the negative things they say - they are all true. My room is so poorly maintained that the TV remote control unit is broken and both the light bulbs in my room have not been replaced. My room itself is renovated and clean, but the rest of the place is rather dirty. Not inviting at all! Use this place... More

This place was quite the surprise to us, as the pictures online were quite charming... and the people had been very nice to work with us. As an educational group traveling all over South Africa & were expecting to be staying in some less-than-perfect places. All we really wanted was a place that was clean, safe & inexpensive. I think... More

+ The hotel staff were reasonably friendly and happy to help - one of the staff members actually walked us all the way to Melrose Arch (about a 20 minute walk) at night in the middle of winter so we could have dinner, and walked back himself! Also, the hotel was cheap, though you could probably find a backpackers in... More

The area in which the lodge is situated is not bad, and is close to Melrose Arch (an exclusive shopping centre). The photos on the website is of one room, the nicest room in the lodge. You can request that specific room before booking. We did not do that, and instead got a dirty looking room with a stained mat.... More

We booked this accommodation for 2 of our clients as the Lodge was conveniently situated. However, when we spoke to our clients after their stay, they informed us that the rooms were dusty and did not look anything like on the website. There was no warm water for them to bath/shower with and they didn't have electricity for one of... More

The entire area is rather dodgy. We got to Sandton City Mall and called for directions to the house - the lady who answered explained that she did not know the area and could not help us. I had to go into the mall, find a bookstore and get a road map. When we finally found the entrance to the... More
