What a pleasant suprise that I found Starling Backpackers in Plettenberg Bay, They have a very unike hike of the wildside along with an experienced fishing guide. Sundowners in Kranshoek are amazing and exploring the little town is very interesting with very friendly people. Sky diving is just across the road. I really enjoyed Hiking the Roberg Penninsula, it was... More

My thank-you's to Matthew and Vicki for making my stay in Plettenberg Bay truely memorable... My room was clean, my bed comfortable, the showers clean and hot....The common area (bar and games) is amazing with an indoor fireplace that everyone congragates around and swaps stories late into the evening...They have a large yard behind the building that is better suited... We spent one night at starlings. We and a group of Germans were the only guests. We went to bed around 11pm, when the other guests decided they wanted to have a party. At 2am the music was still very loud, so I decided to go up to the bar and ask them to turn it down. They did. For... More

What an awesome family, running the Starling Backpackers. I was looking for a special experience and got it. One truly gets the feeling of being in South Africa with a South African family and tradition. The rugby games were big on a big screen, the Braais off the charts. The 'lounge'/bar/restaurant is a great place to hang. Very cozy with... More

Starling is a humble backpack, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the accomodations are comfortable, the showers are hot...they bend over backwards to make sure you have a fund and comfortable stay. There are many activities and things to do in Plett... Including Roberge Penisula.... I would recommend this hostile to anyone travelling the Garden Route, just don't expect... More

Our little group of 5 stayed just one night, but so enjoyed Matthew and Vicky's outdoor cooking and also the entertaining conversation with them and Tristan and Mano, their interns from Germany as well as 3 lovely young student nurses from Liverpool. Matthew then took us on a wonderful adventure climbing trail today.
