My husband have decided to travel around New Zealand for our honeymoon in the hope of combining our love of the outdoors with the romance of beautiful scenery, relatively quiet and laid back atmosphere and the great food and wine we had heard about from our friends adventures there. We first stopped in Wellington where we had a great time... more

My family and I have been travelling around New Zealand for one month and this was our favorite spot. We had a very comfortable apartment with views from the balcony of the river and native trees (leads to great walks nearby). My children find hotels a little boring but here they felt at home for our four day stay, the... more

Experiencing the cold and disinterested reception staff was a recurring theme during our stay. An upstairs room is a must as indeed heavy steps above come through, along with any loud conversation. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bar is a blast and we will visit again. more

Lovely chalet syle hotel, very comfortable and good choice of food. Stayed 2 nights as base for doing the Tongariro Crossing. Staff couldn't have been more helpful - arranging the bus transfers for us and a packed lunch for the trip, plus having a continental breakfast delivered to our room so we could eat before the 7.20am start. Liked having... more

Stayed here for a few nights early November 2008. This lodge is in a great location and has great ambiance. Although the mountain and ski field is subject to poor weather, the skiing is magnificent at Turoa when the weather is good. Had breakfast at the Matterhorn Restaurant and Bar one morning, which was very average - I would recommend... more

We spent the weekend at this pleasant resort and had a comfortable stay. It is very handy to the ski fields but a good walk to the township. The beds were very comfortable with a great shower and spa bath. The hot pool was relaxing and clean. we ate some meals in the hotel and they were delicious. more

The hotel is certainly lovely, and very warm but we experieced a few problems while staying here. When we turned on our spa bath, a blob of hair came flying out into the water. We also checked out the hot pool for the hotel and noticed a few couples getting very frisky - perhaps there needs to be a camera... more

This is a cosy chateau with wooden interior and self opening doors which were very helpful for my Mum as she had an accident on the hill and was on crutches. The staff were pretty average, but the homeliness and comfort of the rooms made up for it. Also, the adjoining bar and restaurant were fantastic, 'the grill' breakfast is... more

Traditional type skilodge, large rooms, drying room not so effective. Staff were not overly warm and friendly. Good location but the highlight is the restaurant and bar. Great food, good service. Recommended, but the floors creak whenever someone is walking above you so request a top floor room if that bothers you. Need to upgrade the televisions! more

Perfect stopover on the way to National Park. Cozy, spacious, clean rooms. Attached restaurant has delicious food as well and is open till about 9:30 which is a HUGE plus since everything else in Ohakune closes earlier. more
