July 9,10, 2011 After camping at the River's Edge RV Park in Fairbanks, we found the Tolsona Wilderness Campround to be very refreshing. The sites were large and most of them were on the river. The campround was clean, quiet. and well maintained. The owners were especially helpful and courteous; willing to spend time answering questions about Alaska, excursions, points... More

We actually schedule a stay at this campground into our trip plans each year. Fair rates, cheap laundry and hot showers--$2.50 for a load of laundry, and $.25/5 minutes showers. WiFi, very clean restrooms/campground, well-maintained, conveniently-stocked front office shop . . . and beautiful, with Tolsona Creek running through the whole campground. We camp all over the state--we're tenters, but... More

This is a very good, rustic campground. Lots of trees, and most sites (if not all) are along a nice stream. However, be aware that this area of Alaska is VERY BUGGY! I'm an Alaskan, so I know bugs, but this area is about as buggy as buggy gets, in my experience. Be forewarned.

What is it with Alaskan campgrounds? If you want a campground with hookups, you pretty much have to stay in private campgrounds since the state campgrounds have no services. You could count the number of nice private campgrounds in the state on one hand. Why would such a beautiful state have such lousy campgrounds? Tolsona is the exception. We stayed... More

Tolsona Wilderness Campground is a GEM in our opinion. What a pleasant experience and a delightful surprise to visit a real campground and not a gravel parking lot. The owners have preserved the natural surroundings, each site is surrounded by trees and easily accessible to the creek. The showers and rest rooms are very clean, warm and very reasonably priced.... If I had imagined an Alaskan campground before our trip this would be it. So many campgrounds we stayed during our vacation were simply parking lots packed with RVs. Tolsona was quiet, secluded, and tree filled. At night we heard nothing but the stream running beside our campsite. Completely relaxing.

My family and I took a whirlwind RV trip this summer through southcentral Alaska and continued to stay at gravel-roaded, wide open campgrounds near our destinations that kind of felt sterile, as they were trying to CREATE a camping atmosphere, and we couldn't even have a campfire at many. Our last night, we pulled into Tolsona Wilderness Campground (which I'd... More

Each time we´re in Alaska we try to spend at least a couple of days on this wonderful campground. It´s definitely our favorite RV-park in the state, perfectly relaxing location, in the middle of a forest, with a little creek which runs right through the campground . Very clean facilities and not to mention the extreamly friendly and helpfull staff.... More

The most Alaskan campground that we found. Just like we expected to find in Alaska but were disappointed in other campgrounds. We had a waterfront site near the shower building. Everything was perfect. Will return when we are in the area.
