Yikes, this place was awful. We had to stay here on our way to Kennecott to break up a long drive. It is a dive. Hotel staff looks sort of creepy and they aren't veri helpful. Okay, they have toilet plungers by the toilet? Do they expect me to use it if something happens? Decor is bad, room is spartan.... More

This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in, even remotely, throughout Alaska. The staff try there best with the materials the owner provides, but it's old and time to throw away. They have also been having issues with BED BUGS and for some reason, they believe they can resolve the issue without hiring an exterminator. I did... More

Traveling from Oregon to Alaska we had stayed in a couple placed and this was one out of the 3 that was a decent price for what you get and where it's located. The hotel itself is nice and clean. Bathrooms are clean but the water needs to be ran for a few minutes since there is rust in the... More

I really have no idea what the previous reviewers were complaining about. I stayed at the Caribou Hotel in January 2012 and was very pleased with it. The room was clean and everything was clean and in good condition - the rugs, curtains, walls, wall paper, bathroom furnishings. The bedding and towels looked new and were soft and fresh smelling.... Hmm... where to start? OK, well, it looks charming from the outside. And to be fair, if you were a hunter you wouldn't care about the basics you were missing out on. First and foremost, there is no microwave or coffee maker in the room. A small thing, butt very important in my book. Second, there is "wifi"... but you... More

The hotel is one of two in town, so you don't have much choices... 139$ per night not including breakfast. Very basic. More like a motel, but very very old. The receptionist was very friendly and tried to help as much as she could, but it was the worth hotel in Alaska in all our trip. The hotel is in... More

Sadly, in the off season this can be the only hotel open in the area. Still, I would recommend you keep driving. Its over priced, dirty, the walls were paper thin and the water was orange. The food in the restaurant seemed to be simply reheated microwave meals and were over $20 per plate - not worth it. The staff... More

We knew from Trip Advisor that this place was terrible but we need a stop before Valdez. We are a family of 4 and we need first of all a clean palce to stay : there was a used toothpick the sofa, the kitchen was stinky and the bathroom has never seeen bleach. But the final straw was when ,... More

On my trip to one of the glaciers of Mt Sanford, Wrangell-St Elias National Park & Preserve, we got weathered out and were not able to fly VFR so we had to spend the night in Glenallen. The New Caribou Hotel is the only game in town, so it's here or the back seat of your car!! The Hotel is... More
