We live in Anchorage and really enjoy this place. The living room has huge windows with views of the mountain and ski lift. You can almost ski from the mountain to the front door. It has a beautiful kitchen. And the staff are helpful and friendly.

We stayed three nights in one of the lower level rooms. The common area and our room were both clean, bright and updated. The bed was very comfortable and our bathroom was well maintained and private. There was a TV in our room, but since we weren't in Alaska to watch TV we didn't really care about the size, etc....

Teenyrae,
Thank you for the positive feedback. FYI, the neighbors are nearly finished with their construction project (way behind schedule). I recall the other guests you mentioned - not a good situation for any of the parties involved - but if that's as bad as it ever gets, I'll take it. We've been very fortunate to have considerate and responsible...

Stayed at the Dancing Bears (now called Girdwood Hotel, nightly rentals) July 2010 for 3 nights in "The Summit". The top floor suite is as spectacular as the pictures on their website, but the pictures don't nearly do justice to the size and open floor plan. The open living/dining/kitchen area is huge, with vaulted ceiling and a direct view of...

We stayed 3 days in July in the Dancing Bears B&B and passed
a marvelous time there. Girdwood is a quiet location but has it
all: hiking trails, ski slopes (winter of course), nice resto's and bars. Close to many places in this largest state of the US.
Anchorage, Whittier (glacier cruise), the Kenai Peninsula
are all within 30 minutes...

When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was that I had to have my shoes off in the B&B. I only had sandals so was expected to walk in there(with other guests) on bare feet which seemed unsanitary to me. We had to squeeze through a tiny hallway where there was a washer and dryer to get to our...

We stayed at Dancing Bears for 2 nights in the Northface room in July '08. While reading the previous reviews, I can sympathize with some, but I definitely disaggree with others. Here is my take.
The place is very confortable, although clearly not a 5 star hotel. If in need of such luxurious accomodations, try the Hilton in downtown Anchorage...

Another couple, my husband and I spent one night at the Dancing Bears B&B, and we were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations.
We are casual travellers, and appreciated the host's, Derek's, information about things to do in town, suggestions of places to eat, (we chose Maxine's) directions, and even a hand drawn map of a suggested hike that took us...

Upon our arrival (which was 45 min early) we were met in the driveway by our hostess, asked if we had reservations and were rudly told Oh No, you are too early, Im not ready for guests yet, you will have to come back later!! At this point I would have went some place else but of course the room...

Thank you for your constructive criticism. We've made many changes and improvements at the Dancing Bears since your stay. It is unfortunate that you were so dissatisfied. Though we realize it is impossible to please everyone, we would prefer not to have our guests leave so unhappy and we hope it never happens again.

We met up with our hostess upon our arrival - very nice. We stayed in the Northface room which had a queen and 2 bunk beds. We were travelling with 2 teenage boys - so any time they don't have to share a bed is a great night sleep for all! The bath room was nice and clean, but no...

We were in a bind when lodging fell through but managed to get a room at the Dancing Bears for two nights in the middle of June with very little notice. Brent and Lorna have done a great job of fixing the place up - very new and updated kitchen is especially nice.
Breakfast is serve-yourself from a very well-stocked...
