This is a must do on your trip to French Polynesia. Kim, Walter, and Daisy are by far the nicest people in French Polynesia! The resorts in FP could care less about you, but at the Motu Mahare they share with you the experience of living on an island paradise. We tasted bread fruit from the campfire, and fresh coconut... As part of a ten day honeymoon in French Polynesia, my wife and I spent two nights at Kim, Walter & Daisy's slice of paradise on Motu Mahare. By now, most of FP is very commercialized and overrun with tourists (like us); and the overwater bungalows are somewhat artificial. But this hotel gives you a true escape from all the... More

We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights at this beautiful place. Kim and Walter are super nice couple that runs this place. We missed the place, missed them and of course their little cute daughter, Daisy. After many year living in Canada, I cannot stand the strong sun for long but It was so beautiful and I did enjoy... More

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and had a fabulous time. It was really our idea of paradise and my only regret was that we didn't stay longer. Thanks Kim and Walter for your wonderful hospitailty. More

This is a place where you can really feel the motu way of life. It takes some guts from Walter and Kim to have this operation running only by themselves, plus their 3-year old girl. They have put together a nice place to relax and enjoy. A great plus is that the property faces the seaside and also the lagoon... More

We had a great time. We stayed two nights, and Kim and Walter were great. Fantastic barbecues in the night, great snorkelling around the island, and overall a great experience. More

* review relates to August 2009 * We were greeted by white golden sand which had been raked by hand. Lovener 1 looked at me and we exchanged that worrying look - had we completely stuffed up our currency conversion and were staying somewhere way way out of price range? This was part of our 3 week trip to French... More

We stayed only two nights at Au Motu Mahare as part of an all too short stopover in French Polynesia on our way to Hawaii. If we could have stayed ten days, we would have, but it was high season and other lucky visitors had already made reservations! It is really hard to summarize Au Motu Mahare, but many other... More

That is the only way to describe this place. We spent our honeymoon in FP on Moorea, Motu Mahare, and Bora Bora. While each island provided its own unique experience, the stay at Motu Mahare was by far the most authentic, relaxing and enjoyable. We can't wait to go back and stay there again. Kim and Walter were wonderful hosts,... More

Yep, all the reviews are right – this place is just great. If you don't mind a little basic (and we really don't), then this place should stimulate your imagination. The waters in the lagoon are warm and crystal clear and the fish-life is just amazing. Kim and Walter are the most gracious hosts. They were hugely welcoming without being... More
