The hotel may not be The Ritz, but it was nice and clean. Members of the staff are friendly, especially Arturo at the frontdesk and the van driver,Jorge. One can walk to a good restaurant and, if you're inclined, to a casino. Cab fare to downtown San Jose is reasonable.
