Comfortable and spacious room with fridge and good shower. There are long sandy beaches and cliff top walks from the town. The tourist office a few yards from the hotel sell a cheap map with the walks set out (2€). Also lots of good places to eat. I recommend el Duene for the margueritas and good food with helpful staff... More

Stayed there twice during my 3 weeks trip to Costa Rica in April. The first two nights a friend and I stayed in a private room with 2 beds and bath on the second floor away from the street. Nothing fancy but the room was large and clean. Being in central San Jose there is always noise as with any... More

We were underwhelmed with our stay here. We knew it would not be fancy but the quality of the bed and linens was bad and when we asked if we could upgrade to a private bath we were told there didn't have any - even though we saw empty rooms with them. Our room faced the street so in addition... More

Hellos: Jasmine: Thank you very much for staying with us, and about the noise is because we are right in the city center and the trafic during the day is sometimes a lot. About the beds they are king size and they are also very confortable, we change linen every day, and we keep our place very clean. If we... More

Excellent for the price especially because it includes breakfast, king size bed with private bath= $50! We spent a total of 4 nights there (2 when we arrived and 2 before taking off home). The hotel is older but very clean, and the staff was thorough, welcoming and over the top :) Muchas gracias a Oscar y Juan Carlos..."Pura Vida"...... More

We absolutely loved the service we received at Costa Rica Guesthouse. They had a safe place for us to put our rental car and we had a wonderful breakfast cooked for us in the morning. We had the Chirripo apartment which was very nice. We had our own bathroom, patio, and kitchen. The room was lovely, but the location was... More

I rented a standard room plus with a private bath. The room was clean to the naked eye. However, the two towels provided were ripped around the edges and discolored. the shower towel was all stain and old. the sheets had a smell that was not fresh and the comforter looked like it had not been washed in a long... Stayed here 4 nites in a private room with our own bathroom. Immaculately clean, huge bathroom (Marion Bellenas room) with hot water (was a problem in lots of places). Our room was huge and lots of light. Yes, it can be noisy in the morning but that's what you get when you have a train nearby and lots of traffic.... More

We came here because of the great Trip Advisor ratings. It was clean and the bed was comfortable in a large room (we were in Cahuita ). The bathroom was clean, and the shower had lots of hot water. We enjoyed the large common rooms with comfy furniture to relax on. My wife liked the funky shows on the large... More

All the things you want as a home base when visiting Costa Rica. Close to the center of town, access to bus stations, easy transport to airport, good eating places in walking distance, but most of all the friendliest and most helpful staff.
