Hotel has nice condos. Very friendly staff and a good restaurant. However, the beds are very poor. We were with several people and none of them had a good sleep. That's a pity since the rest of the hotel is good.

The shower curtain had black mold on it and stunk. The queen sized mattress was actually a double sized mattress which also stunk of mold, mildew and sweat. The shower barely had any water. The toilet moved when you sat on it. They leave unwrapped & used soap bars in the bathroom. The pool bar is an "honor" bar wherein...

Being nature lovers and not lovers of crowds or excess, we certainly wanted to avoid the mainstream beach resorts of the Jaco area. Therefore, we stayed far south of there in this lovely hotel. There are many choices along the Pacific highway stretch, and I'm sure that some of those places are quite nice, but overall the value at HVG...

We found this hotel by accident on a rainy September night when we were driving the southern highway. We were traveling in the off season with no reservations and we did not know where we might stay. We saw the sign up on the hill through the rain and since our choices seemed slim we drove up the hill and...

Stayed 4 nights at Villas Gaia with 5 friends and loved every minute of it!!!!
It's true, the highway is unfortunately close to the hotel and you can hear trucks going by, but with the sounds of the jungle all around, it is very easy to tune it out. The grounds here are spectacular and it was a perfect place...

Villas Gaia could be a fantastic place to stay, but the nearby "highway" ruins a part of the charm of this hotel, especialy in the restaurant or when you stay in a room situated on the road side. The villa we stayed in was very large, with a nice little terrace and a jungle view. One day, we had a...

We had arguably the best cabin on the property, with a stunning ocean, jungle, and pool view. Our private terrace was the perfect lounging and bird watching spot. The cabins are quite rustic, but spacious and breezy. The pool was fantastic! The self-serve bar area, with its amazing view, was great for a late night drink.
We'd definitely stay here...

~The views spectacular in the area, and we saw a good portion of the country just getting there and leaving.
~The employees are extremely helpful and friendly.

The grounds are rustically beautiful with tall trees, plants, and flowers along the path from /front desk to the bungalows. You will walk quite a way to your room if you have one at the top of the path but I felt we had nice privacy by being so far from the front desk area. We couldn't hear any sounds from...
